Jacqueline walked with an over enthusiastic bounce in her step as she made her way toward Hawthorne's laboratory. She had gotten lost nearly a hundred times in the city before finally making her way to the suburbs, thanks to the bus system, although she had not considered staying on the entire way and actually got off the bus a little too soon. Her bright eyes and wide smile greeted anyone and everyone who passed her as she looked around carefully, trying to spot the lab and recieve her first pokemon. She could feel the excitement building up in her as she grew closer and closer. She had always wanted a pokemon of he own, one that would stick by her side and be her life long friend. None of the pokemon she had had as pets when she was younger seemed to stick around long before her parents gave up on the idea of a pet.
But now! Now she was finally able to recieve her own pokemon. Not only because she wanted one, but also because it was now part of the law. She was not allowed to travel without one. This was her perfect excuse for leaaving her mother and heading out on her own. For leaving her home at all and moving back toward Featerwing to go to the lab. She constantly looked at her palm, the address of the lab written carefully down on it, but she felt lost. A puzzled and confused look passed her face before she continued merrily in the same direction as before, hoping that she would make it to the lab soon. She could feel herself becoming parched, but knew that would no longer be an issue upon her arrival. She had heard the professor was a maniac for tea, always having some brewed up and wanting to drink it with others. She sighed with relief at the thought. While tea was probably not the best thing she could think of to drink in the summer heat, at least it was something.
Jackie was not sure if she really looked forward to this trip entirely, however. She had also heard that the professor was a bit of a ditz, someone who she could find herself becoming slightly frustrated with. Of course, she would still like the woman, but that did not mean that she would be able to stand being around her for prolonged periods of time. And this, she feared, might put her on the woman's bad side right from the start, which could result in no pokemon for Jackie. She slowed down as the addresses became more similar to the one on the paper, carefully eying each house in case the lab was hidden among them. She had also heard it was not huge or fancy. More of a house... As she searched, her mind continued to wander. The professor supposedly had her favorite pokemon, the cute little dark/fire dog, Houndour. How she wanted one of those.
She had always desired one since she was a little girl, but her father always feared them and never allowed it. However, now she worried that perhaps he had a point. What if this pokemon hated her? What if she was not hard enough for it? Sure, she could have a temper and become frustrated and be stern, but that was not who she was all the time. Generally, she was kind and somewhat shy. What if this pokemon was bad for her? She stopped in her tracks, wondering if she should turn back until she was sure or had her eyes set on another pokemon. No, she could not do that. What if they ran out of Houndour? Then she would want one and it would be no use. Of course, Houndour were not a special pokemon, but still. Her thoughts were beginning to frustrate and annoy her, making it hard to decide if she really wanted to keep going or not.
Finally, she knew that she had to continue on and get a Houndour. There was no way she would be able to get home without one anyway. Her wide smile and confidence returned, her bounce replacing itself in her step as her high pony tail swished back and forth, brushing her neck with its tips. Her green eyes set on the house that was the lab and she moved carefully to the door. "Okay, I can do this," She thought to herself, sighing and making herself relax before forming a fist and knocking hard on the door. The second her arm returned to her side, she could feel herself shaking, anxious to meet this woman and recieve a pokemon. Her heart was pounding, fists sweating and legs shifting her weight around as her feet moved carefully. She kept reminding herself that she could do it, her body slightly trembling as she backed up and waited expectantly for the professor to appear.
/HOUNDOUR! lol Redid my post, hope that's okay? :3/

NEXIVUS LABORATORIES Professor Hawthorne was currently incredibly happy. She had finished her report just in the nick of time, she had a full nights rest, and she and Daffodil were having some of the nicest tea she had drunk in days. She and the mouse Pokemon were chatting, with Lilac acting as a translator of sorts - sure, the professor had been with the Raichu long enough to get the jist of what she was saying, but nothing really compared to hearing every word that the Pokemon said. It was times like this that she was glad that she and her Pokemon were so close.
It seemed as though the tea was gone too quickly; Lilac had agreed to translate over tea, and she was really very eager to help Lavender with the cleaning. Days of hard work were very bad for the state of the Lab, unfortunately. It had been an unavoidable embarrassment when the Professor had needed to hand out Pokemon while working, but now that her report was finished she was just being lazy. Lilac floated off, starting to fix up the place as quickly as she could. It may of been that she was a psychic type, or it may of been that she was worrying about the mess, but she felt as though someone would show up soon.
Before long, the professor and Daffodil were helping clean as well. The house was almost spotless when something somewhat unfortunate happened; Rose got out. He didn't try to mess up the place, he really didn't, but he went barrelling towards Daffodil - who jumped out of the way just in time - and ended up charging into a table. In itself, hitting a table wasn't that bad, but the table collapsed, sending boobs and paper flying everywhere. Lavender let out a horrified cry, just a moment before the doorbell rang.
As the blonde ran to the door, Lilac picked Rose up with her psychic powers, trying to limit the damage he was going to do. Lavender and Daffodil started working together, trying to fix the table. Just as the professor opened the door, Rose broke free from Lilac's grip and dashed towards the door, knowing a visitor was there. He ran himself into the visitor legs, causing professor Hawethorn to pull out a pokeball and return him. "I'm sorry about that, dear! Rose doesn't know how to behave around visitors quite yet, I'm afraid."
The professor turned and walked a short way into her house, signalling for the other blonde to follow her in. She turned to face the visitor before speaking. "Welcome to Nexivus Laboratories! I'm Professor Hawthorne, how can I help you today?" The words were enunciated perfectly, which was unsurprising considering how often the woman spoke them. The next were just as well rehearsed. "Daffodil, could you please get us some tea, please?" The Raichu nodded, running off to get some, causing the table to almost fall on Lavender's head. Luckily, Lilac had been paying attention and started lifting the table with her mind. The Audino smiled at the psychic type, grateful for her forethought.

Jacqueline smiled as she watched the door begin to open, but quickly found a look of panic and terror passing over her face. Eyes grew wide as a little pokemon, which looked more like a blur of colors than anything else, came sprinting toward her, aiming directly for her legs. Without much warning, she found her legs spread out trying to regain balance as her hands grabbed for the edges of the door. She let out a gasp of air, but was pleased to see the pokemon returned to its ball, although she was still trying to determine what had just happened and how she was supposed to react to that sort of thing. "At least my nerves have eased," She thought to herself as she pulled herself properly back to her feet, only to see the professor standing before her.
She had apologized, or so Jackie thought, she had not really heard it all. "Oh, it's alright," She said quietly and nodded, quickly walking inside the building and shutting the door behind her. Turning to look around the inside of the building, her eyes immediately widened once more. It seemed clean, minus a few papers here and there that the professor's pokemon were cleaning up. She had never seen a place look so clean, at least with pokemon like the one who had just rammed into her legs. Her own house had never been that clean, even when they had calmer pokemon running around. "Pleasure to meet you, Professor Hawthorne. I was actually hoping to try some of your tea. I hear it is lovely," She began, fixing her pony tail and pulling her shorts down, realizing they had lifted a bit when she nearly took a dive. "I was also hoping to get my first pokemon. I hear you have wonderful selections!" Her voice became higher pitched as she found her whole face lighting up.
She was now so close to having her own pokemon. Even if she had fallen on her face, her mood could not have been ruined. In fact, that little blur could have probably bitten off her whole foot and she would still find herself excited to receive a pokemon before the ambulance arrived. She watched the Raichu head off to make a pot of tea, and once again found herself impressed by these pokemon. "Damn! Not only do they cook, but they clean too? Mom should have gotten these sort of pokemon..." Her mind continued to wander before she noticed a Roselia holding a table up with its psychic powers. "Oh no! Did you break your table? Is it my fault for knocking? I'm sorry! Let me help?" She offered, moving toward the pokemon in an effort to help fix the table. If there was anything Jackie really knew how to do, it was how to fix things and take care of herself.
She had always grown up with boys and men, never really been around girls and thus, never had a hard time fixing broken things. In fact, her mother had been surprised Jack had not run off with her toolbox and left everything else behind. As she looked around the room at all the faces, Jackie settled them on the Professor once more, hoping to maintain eye contact and not miss out on anything else the blonde woman told her while she remained in the laboritory. She felt awkward at this point, standing there trying to help fix a table, waiting for tea, her legs still somewhat wobbley as her eyes rested on the strange Professor Hawthorne, but her eyes still seemed to gleam and her smile did not fade one bit.

NEXIVUS LABORATORIES
"Pleasure to meet you, Professor Hawthorne. I was actually hoping to try some of your tea. I hear it is lovely!" Hawthorne laughed loudly, beaming at the girl, "Oh, if there's one thing I'm more infamous for than my scientific research, it's my love of tea! It's such a simple pleasure." She paused for a moment, a finger at her lips, "Daffodil, sweetie, can you prepare some of the special Penniacre Earl Grey?" She called and the Raichu's excited squeal could be heard from one of the kitchens. Hawthorne smiled, "I thought she'd like that." "I was also hoping to get my first pokemon. I hear you have wonderful selections!"Hawthorne nodded happily, striding to the bookcase and picking up a booklet. "Oh, yes! If there's one good thing about working with the Ranger Union, it's the variety of Pokemon they provide for us!" She strolled over, holding the booklet and gesturing to the sofa, "Please, sit down." "Oh no! Did you break your table? Is it my fault for knocking? I'm sorry! Let me help?" The girl rushed over, helping her pokemon with the table and giving it a analytical look that Hawthorne recognised. "Oh, goodness! That was Rose, he's such an excitable little thing! Doesn't know his own strength either." She placed the booklet on the arm of the chair, helping with the table. "Hmm, the table leg has been snapped." She murmured to herself. "I'm sure I have some duct tape around here somewhere..." Professor Hawthorne had many talents, but DIY was not one of them. "I could also call that Damien over... I'm sure he could fix it." She gave a girlish giggle, thinking of the handsome builder who lived nearby. Daffodil reappeared a few moments later carrying the tray of teas above her head. Hawthorne jumped up, wondering what to do. "Well, I can't think what to do now... Lilac, dear, if you could, um, sort that out?" She asked, turning to the Gardevoir. She rolled her eyes, gently lifting the objects off of the table and placing it gently in neat piles next to it. She then gently lowered the table, allowed Lavender the Audino to move out of the way. Lavender peered at the table, shaking her head frantically at the mess and hurried away with her head in her hands "Please, sit down, dear and enjoy some of this tea." Hawthorne sat on one of the large sofas, taking a cup of tea from the try Daffodil had placed on the coffee table. She took a large mouthful, swallowed, and let out a happy sigh, "Perfect, as always, Daffodil!" The Raichu squeaked happily, jumping up and perching on Hawthorne's lap as she took a small cup for herself. "Now dear, are there any pokemon in that booklet that you're interested in?"

Jackie could not help but smile at the idea of the tea. She was still very thirsty, and if it was true about the Professor having the best, well, her mouth was already watering. Her bright eyes were curious about how the Raichu knew the exact tea and how to make it, yet excited and amazed at the same time. She could not believe that she was this close to getting her own pokemon like that. 'I wonder if it will be a super genious too,' She tilted her head at the thought, momentarily spacing out before the Professor began speaking once more. She was saying something about the ranger union and then beckoned for Jackie to sit down, but she felt lost having missed the first piece of information.
Immediately, she wanted to kick herself for zoning out again, even if for just a few seconds. She needed to get better at listening, and remembering. Those would be valuable things along this adventure, and she needed them now. Along with some patience. She sighed, but nodded to Hawthorne as she went on about some duct tape. Looking the table over, Jackie nodded. It was not too much damage, and even if it was, she figured it would not be hard for someone like Professor Hawthorne to get a new one. Besides, like she said, duct tape would be able to fix it, and if not, that Damien could. She almost giggled at the Professor before nodding and moving to sit down next to her, the Raichu appearing with a tray of hot tea. At that point, she was glad that Gardevoir was psychic and thus able to hold the table herself, otherwise she would have felt horrible just moving off like that.
She bit her lip watching the Gardevoir, Lilac, clear off the table to remove it from the house, but her mind was still focused on the tea. Quickly, she agree with Hawthorne, not saying anything as she reached out and grabbed her cup of tea, gulping it down like a hound who hadn't had anything to drink in days. After being chained up or something of that sort. She could not help but feel as if she was once again making a fool out of herself. At this point, she did not really care, however. She giggled before looking at the Raichu and the Professor. "That was delicious! Thank you, Daffodil!" She smiled great big, her quench now filled as she once again faced the Professor, the big question finally hitting her.
"Houndour!" She blurted out instantly. "Uh... I mean, I was interested in a Houndour... if you still have them," Jackie blushed and looked down, fiddling her thumbs. She looked carefully back up at the Professor, her excitedness now showing more than anything else she could be feeling at this point. She continued to play with her hands, waiting to see what the answer would be. If her heart was not racing before, it really was now.

The sweet liquid was like heaven upon Professor Hawthorne’s lips, steam tumbling from her mouth as her warm breath came into contact with the slightly scalding liquid. Just how the woman preferred her tea. She smiled once more and gave Daffodil a gentle pat as she took another gradual sip. Her Raichu appeared just as content, squealing in ecstasy as a similar scenario occurred for her.
“Houndour!”
The tea-loving duo suddenly went into a coughing and sputtering fit. The girl’s outburst had been so startling that they’d taken too big a swallow from their tea and burned the inside of their mouths. After reaching for the napkin Hawthorne dabbed at her stained mouth, Daffodil mimicking this action.
Between dabs the professor sighed and said with a smile, “Sorry, dear. How humiliating! Anyhow, that is quite alright. We have plenty of those little creatures! If you would be so kind as to wait her while I go fetch one.”
And in a brisk moment she was off toward the back of her lab to fulfill her duties, not waiting for the other girls to reaction to such an episode as that. Daffodil had already taken on the task of tidying up the floor and gathering the tea apparatus upon the serving cart once more before indignantly strolling away. Seeing a few spots she had missed, Lavender bustled in right afterward with a rag of her own to scrub profusely at spots nobody else could see with the naked eye. Meanwhile the woman was inwardly giving herself several face palms, irritated by her own mistakes. That tears it! No more tea for myself whenever guests are over! Although it was obvious she was only lying to herself, it helped dampen the fire within her mind. Minutes passed before Professor Hawthorne stepped back in with a single Poké Ball within one hand and a small bag of supplies in the other. With a smile she approached the pretty girl and handed both burdens toward her, urging her to take them. “Here you are! Your healthy and ready as ever Houndour! This one was my particular favorite to raise, so do be kind to it. Also, your starter kit. Good luck on your journey.” The professor gave her another beaming smile, giving new trainers their Pokémon always made brought it to her face.

Jackie perked up as the Professor went into the back and returned quickly with a pokeball. Her smile did not seem as if it could widen anymore than it already was and she no longer payed attention to anything around her. All she was focused on now was the Houndour she was so excited to get. Excitedly grabbing the pokeball and running her fingers over, turning it in her palms, she felt satisfied. She took the bag and quickly threw her arms around Professor Hawthorne, well the best she could anyway, embracing her thankfully. "Oh, thank you, thank you! I'll be the best trainer ever for it!" She spoke quickly, her words almost running together. "Thank you all again, especially for the tea!" She called out over her shoulder, sprinting toward the door, too excited to go outside and meet her pokemon to do anything else.
Quickly running down the stairs, she released the pokemon from its pokeball and looked it over. It had a fierce look to it, ears twitching as it looked at its new master. "Oh you're just so darn cute!" Jackie beamed, immediately cuddling the pokemon, which grunted in response. "Ready to go, little one? We can think up a name for you on the way back to the city!" Her voice did not loose its enthusiasm and she was too excited to calm herself to speak in a normal tone. The Houndour nearly rolled its eyes in response as she set it back down before nodding and trotting off with its new master, the pair heading quickly toward the city to begin their adventure together. Jackie continued to spit out names, looking down at the pokemon at her side, trying to figure out the perfect one for it before looking back once at the lab one final time.
