He always hated getting up in the morning. The sun, the loud, squawking birds, and everything in between, which is probably why he was more on the pale side, than tan. It didn't bother him, though, being so fair-skinned. It separated him for the more 'jock' like males that always seemed to be around at the worst times for him. He wasn't the most muscular thing out there, either, but he wasn't too scrawny all at the same time. He was actually a bit stronger than what his appearance gave off. He groaned some, then, and tossed the blankets from his body, and slowly began to rise from his most comfortable bed.
It was time to move on. He had been waiting for this moment for as long as he could remember, though there were people younger than him that had already started their journeys. But he wanted to make sure he was good and ready before leaving his home unattended for a long period of time.
He stood up then, stretching, and shuffled about his slightly disorganized room. It agitated him on how he let it get this bad, but he shrugged it off. Not like anyone was going to be seeing it anyways. He was, after all, leaving. He stopped in the middle of his room, trying to remember where he had set his planned clothes for the day. Spotting them, he moved over to them, and grabbed his jeans. Slipping in one leg after another, he pulled them up with a slight jump, then zipped and buttoned them at time, then proceeded to pull out his white undershirt, followed by his light blue colored button up polo.
He then proceeded to grab his bag, and sling it over his shoulder. Just as he was giving his last look around his room, a crash came from downstairs. Quickly, he rushed out, swinging his door shut behind him. Now entering in to the kitchen, he spotted his Elekid, swinging from the light up top as things cluttered the floor - such as broken eggs, and the toaster, which held a half cooked bagel. Colton sighed, and pulled Elekid from the light. "Bad. That's a very bad boy." Colton said, shaking his head, with a slight chuckle. Colton quickly cleaned up the mess, then looked at his Elekid. "It's time to get a move on, now." He spoke in a calm voice, then headed to the front door, pulling his keys from his jean pocket. He opened the front door, where the light then struck him in the eyes, causing him to groan a bit, and step back, waiting for his eyes to then adjust to the brightness of the outside. Elekid waddled on out, and turned to wait for Colton to follow. As soon as his eyes adjusted, Colton stepped outside, turned to close and lock the door, and turned back around.
He closed his eyes some as he inhaled the fresh air around him. It was good to be back outside, with the light, gentle breezes, and the aroma of the flowers from the neighbors' places. He shook his head, knowing that his house was going to be unattended too, and the yard was going to get overgrown. Hopefully someone would be kind enough to at least chop the weeds while he was gone, or perhaps he could stop by every now and again to check up on it. He wanted to do this anyhow.
After a few moments of standing there, thinking, he started off towards the laboratory, where he was to claim his Pokemon. He knew not to let the professor know that he already has one, so he'd have to stow Elekid somewhere while he went inside. Hopefully Elekid would behave. All he could do was hope.
Coming upon the lab, he pointed to a nearby tree, and told Elekid to sit behind it until he called from him in a few moments. Elekid looked a bit confused, but did as he was told, and went to hide behind the tree. Colton then exhaled slowly, and opened the door to the lab, where he stepped inside, and closed the door behind him.
He looked around the room, then spotted the professor. He briskly walked up to her, and gave a half-smile. "Hello. My name is Colton, and I'm here to claim my first Pokemon." He said. He was a half bad liar. He waited for her to respond.

It was a beautiful morning. The birds were singing, the sun was glittering in the sky and sending gorgeous rays of light into the laboratory. And yet, Hawthorne was sitting as her desk, arms over her heads and in a woefully bad mood. The boiling-water kettle that was attached to the wall was broken. The spare kettle was also broken. It was going to be fixed later in the day, when the attractive builder Damien came round, but it still meant that she'd gone a whole two hours without tea. Of course, with caffeine addiction came caffeine headaches and Hawthorne's was so bad she didn't want to move.
The door opened suddenly, making her jump and look up, before wincing and hold on to her head. "It's rude to just enter someone's property without knocking, you know," She growled, a world away from her usual happy self, "Whatever happened to decent manners?" She grumbled, crossing her arms and narrowing her blue eyes at the male.
"Hello. My name is Colton, and I'm here to claim my first Pokemon." said the male. It wasn't excessively rude, but it nevertheless caused Hawthorne to sneer angrily.
"Of course you are. Every day I get people coming here, drinking my tea and taking my lovely pokemon without even a thanks in return!" She ranted, standing up and getting closer to the boy. Lilac shot a warning glance at her trainer, before sending a telepathic message to the stranger, { Please excuse her, she's not had her tea this morning... You probably should have knocked though. }
"So, Colton, why should I give you one?" Hawthorne hissed furiously, eyes narrowed.

He hadn't even thought about that. About knocking. There were so many other things on his mind, he simply forgot. Though, there was no excuse for rude manners. He let out a small sigh, before letting an apologetic "Sorry" Escape his lips as the Professor snapped at him.
The voice of one of the Pokemon entered his mind then, about the Professor not having her tea. He looked around the room slowly, then back at the Professor, who was now closer to him. She had asked him a question. Why do you want a Pokemon? was basically what she was asking. Why did he? Did he have a reason? Was he even good enough to get one?
Whether he got one or not, his Elekid was prancing around unattended outside. He had to kind of hurry this along to keep from causing the town any destruction.
"Well, I do not like tea, so I won't be taking any of that..." He replied, knowing there wasn't any anyways, due to the fact both kettles are broken. He sighed softly again.
The way the Professor was kind of intimidated him a little, but he was here for one reason, and one reason only. He blinked a few times, then started to respond. "I could name a million reasons on why I should be able to get a Pokemon, but I won't. I'll name just one." He said. A lot of people probably gave five or six reasons. He really only had one. He wanted to get away. Away from this town, and the place where his childhood was horrible.
"I just want out." He said. But he figured that sounded like he just wanted to use the Pokemon, not befriend one. Which wasn't the case at all. "A lot of people have probably had bad childhoods. Mine was horrible, but throughout that time, I took whatever spare time i had left, to study on Pokemon. And I believe its time for me to take my departure from this town." He said, then waited, hoping he didn't sound to idiotic.

Hawthorne breathed in sharply, "I didn't offer you any you rude little-" { Maria! } hissed the Gardevoir, locking eyes with the Professor. Hawthorne looked at her for a few moments, before crossing her arms and huffing.
"Fine."
"I could name a million reasons on why I should be able to get a Pokemon, but I won't. I'll name just one. I just want out." He sighed, looking sad and defeated, "A lot of people have probably had bad childhoods. Mine was horrible, but throughout that time, I took whatever spare time i had left, to study on Pokemon. And I believe its time for me to take my departure from this town."
Hawthorne scoffed at his speech, "Oh, like I've not heard that before." but nevertheless her expression softened slightly and she stomped over to the bookcase. She picked up the booklet and the Special PKMN leaflet. She pushed them into his hands, taking a seat behind her desk again. A hand massaged her temple. Curse these headaches!
"You can see any of the pokemon before you decide, or I can just pick one for you." She said, with a mischievous smile. She couldn't really refuse a trainer a pokemon due to her Ranger Union obligations, but she could always give them something difficult.

She was in such a bad moon, thought Colton to himself, but he shrugged it off. He wasn't here but no more than a mere few minutes, to claim is Pokemon, then be on his way. He sighed some, before having something shoved in his hands. He shook his head a little bit. She needs to .. get her tea in her system or something. Is she always this grumpy?" He blinked a few times, then looked down at the pamphlet in his hands.
He carefully looked over the Pokemon. Or I can pick one for you. She said. He rather she didn't. Who knows what kind of girly, prisspriss Pokemon she would try giving to him. He shook his head again, just at the thought of walking around with a Skitty. He chuckled some at the thought as well.
A few of the starters had intrigued his interest, but the one he finally chose after closing the pamphelt, was more on the girlish side, as well, but the evolution was amazing. "I'll take a Deerling, please." He said, trying to be as kind as possible. He just wanted to get out of here already. He looked over the professor's Pokemon again, then back at her, and sat quietly.

NEXIVUS LABORATORIES ”I’ll take a Deerling, please.”
A slow, mischievous smile curled Hawthorne’s lips as these words touched her ears. Well, he hadn’t asked to see all the Deerlings. So in that case she was allowed to choose for him. Oh, the technicality of words. It was a dangerous game to play with such a moody Professor. Hawthorne nodded briefly to the boy, at least sparing him more snarky conversation, and disappeared momentarily. Lilac the gardevoir watched nervously, sensing already her trainer’s plans. The only reason the psychic pokemon didn’t argue was because whatever pokemon Hawthorne gave Colton couldn’t be that bad, and they all had to be chosen by a trainer eventually. Still… they better get those tea kettles fixed soon.
In mere moments the Professor returned, holding a lone pokeball. With a darkly satisfied grin, Hawthorne handed it over. ”Your Deerling, sir.” She drawled, crossing her arms. ”I’m sure you’ll enjoy each other’s company. Let me get you a consent form and you can get out.” One hand rubbing her forehead—the headaches were only worsening—Hawthorne rummaged through her desk and produced a short form for Colton to fill out. Handing that over as well, she was about to grab a starter item pack for the new trainer when Lilac popped up in front of her and handed a bag over.
{ Here are the items, Maria. I will get the aspirin bottle in a moment. }
Hawthorne couldn’t stop a small smile from breaking down the harsh lines on her face. Lilac was always there for her, no matter the grumpiness. It was a supportive friendship. ”Well, thank you Lilac.” She replied quietly. Turning back to Colton, her expression wasn’t as thunderous as before. ”These are the items we pass out to all new trainers. Take them as well.” Short and not so sweet. Worse encounters had happened.
Colton received a Deerling!Gender: Male Attacks: Tackle, Camouflage, Growl, + ONE EGG MOVE Personality: Competitive, Prideful, Suspicious
