-- Picture coming soon; I just wanted to go ahead and submit my app before I finish. ❂ ℱlorence Schewitz__________________________________ NAME Florence Dean Schewitz
NICKNAMES Flo - mostly prefers her full name.
AGE 17 - born January 25th. ♒
GENDER Female - homosexual.
HOMETOWN Fortree City, Hoenn
APPEARANCE
At a height of 5'10" and weighing 160 lbs, Florence is hardly a dainty girl. Although she isn't necessarily "chubby," she's most certainly pear shaped. Her bust is only a smallish B-cup, yet her body curves, providing a lovely set of hips and thighs that taper into long legs. Meanwhile, her skin itself typically varies between stark pale and slightly sunkissed - she isn't too fond of tan-ness, protecting her sensitive pinkish skin whenever possible. She's especially cautious of her face, which is somewhat rectangular with softly defined cheekbones. Several minor blemishes and imperfections are scattered throughout, including a nick on her left eyebrow from when she ran into a door as a child and one or two fading acne scars from her early teens.
Despite the desire to apply makeup being mostly lost in the wake of adventure, Florence occasionally paints her full-bottomed lips with a tube of coral lipstick she keeps, maybe even a coat or two of mascara when trying to appear extra nice. Although, perhaps the most peculiar thing about Florence is her right grey-green eye is missing its companion - having lost her left eye as a child, the socket long desolate and empty. A simple, straight rosy nose falls between these two. Both her eyebrows and hair are a natural dirty-blonde, wavy locks kept rather short-cropped and parted on the right for ease while traveling. She habitually tucks and untucks her bangs behind her left ear, runs her fingers through and generally fiddles with it while under stress.
As for clothing and such, the girl has an affinity for striped long-sleeved shirts. In particular, a brown-and-black one that she received from her grandmother and wears quite often. Spares for most of her garments are tucked away in her bag, however. Including an extra pair of her dark-denim jeans, which are typically kept tucked into her tattered tan hiking boots. In the realm of accessories, Florence keeps it scarce - only a small pocketwatch dangling on a silver chain around her neck and commonly kept hidden inside her shirt. Due to her relationship with the sun, though, she does wear a lady-like white hat that provides adequate shade.
( other : has a slightly drawl to her voice )
PERSONALITY
Upon first meeting Florence, most find her rather pleasant to talk to, able to adjust her wide range of interests to compliment those of who she's with. It also helps that she's quick to smile, radiating an approachable atmosphere. Although the girl's insecurity about her left eye has nearly vanished throughout the years, she does tend to gauge peoples' initial reactions to the startlingly void socket. Furthermore, her blind spot remains something of worry; she'd much rather keep people, especially strangers, in the range of her working eye, avoiding vulnerability. It ties in with her terrible paranoia of the dark, hating the drastic cut in her already handicapped vision, and typically sets up camp well before sundown.
None of that stops Florence from being optimistic, however - finding something pleasant in most situations. She's unskilled in the art of grudges and her anger, though sharp and sudden, is usually shallow, fleeting and quickly dissipates. Howbeit, she's not use to facing or handling the anger of others and will generally shy away or, in rarer instances, retaliate with her own bout of augmentative fury. The teenager is quite kind to her Pokemon, nevertheless - she tries to let them roam on the outside as often as possible. This benevolence expands further, to her deep love and respect of nature, undoubtedly in part to her roots in Fortree City.
An artistic streak exists in Florence, and she prides herself on keeping a small hard-bound sketchbook full of little notes and sketches of her journey. She's wholly protective of it, not fond of others touching it without her permission and dreading filthy fingers pawing through the delicate white pages. It's actually one of the few things she isn't lazy with, applying the moto of "I'll do it later" to a great deal of things. To wrap this up and touch a bit on Florence's sexuality, she's rather quiet about it, telling few and dreading that female friends will assume it means she has crushes on all of them - leftover scars from what happened to her in her hometown.
HISTORY
Growing up in Fortree City is almost like a dream to most children - a plethora of treeforts and Pokemon to be found. It was no different for Florence, who adored nothing more than going out with her brother and ragtag gang of friends from dawn til dusk, returning home with empty stomachs and hair full of brush. There was no tragedy within her family, no death or such; it was simply her and her younger brother, living relatively well-off with their parents both working steady jobs at the local gym. In a sense, Florence's childhood was ideal.
Seasons changed, puberty struck; a whirlwind of acne, development, emotions, and perhaps most importantly, it seemed all of the young girl's friends were getting boyfriends. Now, she simply assumed she herself was a late bloomer - there was not yet a need to have a guy, her afternoons still spent romping mirthfully around the forest. She tried, however, it simply never clicked. Frustrated and full of teenage angst, Florence almost completely devoted her time to nature and art. Drawing the vast array of local Wild Pokemon was a joyous hobby for her, however, the day she got too close whilst sketching a lonely Absol kit is one she consistently recalls. The mother arrived, assumed Florence as a threat to her precious offspring, and attacked - the teenager's left eye the sole casualty.
With the loss of her eye and a strange new confusion about her sexuality, Florence retreated deeper into herself, remaining close to a mere few - mostly her little brother. Months passed, and only with great support from her family (her parents even spending enough to call in a praised physical therapist from Goldenrod), the girl reluctantly emerged from her depression over her freshly handicapped sight. Yet, the mounting uncertainty over her attraction to females persisted, terribly so when she began to develop feelings for one of her old friends, Lola.
As we all know, teenagers can be cruel, unnecessarily so. Upon discovering Florence's romantic attraction to her, Lola, despite their long friendship, was disgusted. Word spread, names were called, and Florence lost most of the friends she'd made post- and even pre-depression. There were a scarce few that acted as a web of support, however, overall preventing another dangerous withdrawal from the teen.
Much of the drama eventually blew over, yet Florence knew she couldn't remain there - too many ill feelings, perhaps. Planning went into it, some careful packing, and at the age of 17 she finally departed (albeit, after some difficult goodbyes to her family and few friends). She was destined for Nexivus, in spite of the tales of the evil that had befallen the region, the cheapness of the ticket was enough for her to assure herself she could handle it.
