Laqueta didn't like going out into Featherwing City. This was partly because there was so much noise and so many people, but mostly because she was terrified someone would recognize her from the older newscasts. She could imagine what they would say: "That girl, she's the last Solaris, isn't she? Shame, they were such a high class family once."
But she had just gotten her first pokemon, and Tae hadn't been all that impressed with her family's mansion. Laqueta assumed that the Buneary wanted to battle; she could recall that the lab assistant Teddy had mentioned something about Tae liking to battle. Her mansion had never had any pokemon in it, so she returned Tae to her pokeball, informed her servants of where she was going, and ventured out into Featherwing City. She was determined to find a way to make Tae happy.
Frightened of the crowds and the intimidating sky scrapes, Laqueta had found herself in a small alleyway. It was mostly clean, but no one else was in it, and Laqueta relaxed a little. She started walking through the alleyway, watching for pokemon. She had heard that there were pokemon in Featherwing City, and hoped that she found some. Laqueta was already dreading going back into the main streets of Featherwing.

don't go into the long grass! featherwing city
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g163/spazzy-lil-fishie/Lolsites/salempurple.gif');,true][cs=2] a wild pkmn attacked ! | [atrb=width,100]PIDGEY!female, lvl 03 tackle, gust.words; 174 mod; kit | [atrb=width,240] A chirping noise could be heard as a small, brown bird pecked at the ground. She ruffled her feathers as she hopped around, apparently taking a deep interest in the crumbs that lay scattered outside. This alley was a good place for food. Large bins from a cafe nearby had food inside, but of course the lid was far too heavy for the little Pidgey, so she had to make do with the crumbs from abandoned sandwiches and croissants that littered the floor. It was a hard life, but she wouldn't complain. Things would get better.
She heard a noise and looked up, spotting the human. She let out a worried squawk and jumped back, flapping her wings. She was nervous in the presence of humans. So often they'd shooed her away from here. But this girl seemed different... She was smaller, certainly, but she looked more gentle than the cafe owner and his wife.
She let out a cry, ruffling her feathers as she waited for the human's reaction. What would she do?

Laqueta heard a soft chirping noise from behind a garbage can, and her breath caught in her throat. Somehow, despite coming out into the city searching for a pokemon, Laqueta had never expected to actually find one. She crept forward slowly, one hand pressed to the wall of the alley, and peered around the garbage can to see a small Pidgey. As she moved, Laqueta couldn't help but make a small noise, and the Pidgey jumped back in a flurry of wings in a way that was very similar to Laqueta's own quiet 'eep' sound and quickly step back.
After a few seconds of complete stillness and silence, aside from the Pidgey's quiet chirping and the background noise of the city, Laqueta was far less nervous. She wasn't really sure how to talk to the Pidgey, but decided that, as in all things, it was best to be polite.
"H-hello," Laqueta began hesitantly, "My name is Laqueta. I'm.....looking for a pokemon to battle. Would you like to battle? If you don't want to, I'll leave."
Laqueta didn't like the sound of the sentence that had come out of her mouth; it was far too shy and imprecise to honor her heritage, but she suspected that trying to fix it would be even worse. I don't think anyone in my family would have talked to pokemon as though they could understand anyway, Laqueta thought, ....but they aren't here right now, so maybe it's okay?

Pidgey! female, lvl 03 tackle, gust.
After a moment, the Pidgey thought that the human wasn't going to do anything, and started to peck at the crumbs again. It seemed strange, though, that the human was just going to sit there and watch her. No sooner had she thought that then the human started making some noise.
"H-hello, My name is Laqueta. I'm.....looking for a pokemon to battle. Would you like to battle? If you don't want to, I'll leave."
Strange human. Timid. The bird stopped pecking and looked around, trying to see if another human was the source of this human's fear. When she saw nothing she couldn't help but feel powerful, followed by feeling horrible about herself. Feeling the need to do the girl a favour - after all, the poor dear seemed frightened of her, and no matter how awesome that was, she wasn't going to let it stay that way - she nodded her head.

Laqueta waited patiently for the pokemon's reply, twisting her fingers in her coat. She had heard that pokemon could understand humans, and she knew that Tae could understand her, but she wondered if maybe not all pokemon could understand humans. Then the little Pidgey made an unmistakable nod, and Laqueta smiled a little. She could help Tae find a battle; she could look after her pokemon.
"Thank you," she told the Pidgey quietly as she pulled a pokeball out of her jacket pocket. After a few seconds of feeling the warm weight of it in her hand, she pressed the button of it gently, and Tae appeared in a flash of red light.
Species ~ Buneary Level ~ 05 Gender ~ Female Moves ~ Splash, Pound, Defense Curl, Foresight, Ice Punch Ability ~ Run Away
Tae stood still in the alleyway. She muscles were tense, waiting for either an order or an attack. She didn't seem to notice the girl behind her at all.
"Um, you can use Defense Curl and Ice Punch....." Laqueta said to Tae, suddenly feeling guilty about arranging this battle. Whoever won, someone was going to get hurt.
Tae's body language went from wary to defensive in only a few seconds as she used Defense Curl. After that, she leaped at the Pidgey with an Ice Punch, showing absolutely no hesitation.

Pidgey! female, lvl 03 tackle, gust.
The Pidgey watched as the Buneary was released; she could take this Pokemon, she was sure! Before she had the chance to move, she heard the girl instructing the Pokemon. Oh well, it was only fair that this girl get the first move; she seemed so new at this, after all.
Moments later she felt a really painful pain (as opposed to a really pleasant pain, or a pain that felt like skipping through flowers) hit her side. She clamped her eyes and her beak shut, trying to brush it off. She just managed to hold back a cry.
Since the attack had hit her wing, she didn't feel like she was able to use a proper gust. She supposed that she could just use one wing, but, well, it didn't feel right. So, she leaped forward, ready to give the Buneary the worst peck of it's life.

Laqueta watched in wide eyed horror as first the Pidgey was clearly injured by Tae's attack, and then Tae herself was attacked so fiercely she was bleeding a little. This is horrible. Why does anyone ever make pokemon battle when it hurts them so much? I never should have asked for one, Laqueta thought, tears beginning to gather in her eyes.
"I need an order, Trainer," Tae said, her voice cool. The Buneary took one step closer to the Pidgey, her body language subtlety threatening.
Laqueta didn't understand Tae's words, but the dismissive tone of command was one she had heard all her life and could easily recognize. She also could see that Tae didn't appear to be upset at all about her opponent's pain, or about her own. Weak, Laqueta thought, I'm weak. I'm not even fighting, but I still feel like this....I won't let Tae be held back by my weakness. I promised I would be a good trainer for her. I won't let her down.
"Ice Punch," Laqueta said softly, forcing the words out of her mouth. She watched Tae use Ice Punch after in a smooth graceful run forward and hoped that the battle would be over soon.

Oh gosh, the Buneary was bleeding? She was caught between thinking that that meant she was great, and thinking that it was horrible that she had caused the thing such pain. She decided that if asked she would say that she just felt horrible about it.
Moments passed without the other Pokemon attacking, and suddenly she was worried that she my of hit it too hard. Though the Pokemon spoke, causing her to feel proud; she had clearly scared it into not attacking any more. She closed her eyes and started posing, certain that she would gain a following because of her amazing attack power.
Before any fans - who didn't actually exist - could show up, the normal type hit her with another ice punch. She felt herself flying backwards, and realised that she was doing just that - flying. She flapped her wings, stopping herself from falling onto the ground in a painful was, and landed gracefully. She then started flapping her wings again, trying to blow the other Pokemon away with a gust of wind.

"Dodge!" Laqueta blurted out, unable to watch while Tae was hit by another attack. The little Buneary looked far too brave and alone standing there, and Laqueta had to resist the urge to step in front of her to protect her from the gust of wind. She knew humans weren't supposed to get involved in pokemon battles and she suspected that Tae wouldn't really want her help. No one ever wanted her help, after all; her mother had often told her that her help was worse than none at all.
Tae dodged with an easy leap, landing a short distance away.
Laqueta stopped holding her breath, and quickly ordered another Ice Punch because she didn't know what to do. She didn't really want to hurt the Pidgey anymore, but she didn't want Tae to be hurt again either. Please end it Tae....I don't think I want to battle anymore. Laqueta thought as Tae ran forward and spun to the right to try to deliver another Ice Punch.

The Pidgey was quite distraught to learn that the Buneary could so easily dodge her gust attack. Especially after she had waited so long to be able to use her wings again. Flapping them in aggravation, she watched the pokemon come flying toward her with another ice punch attack. Leaping into the air, she tried to dodge the attack, but was too slow. The pokemon still managed to hit her right in her side, which in turn caused her to fall back down to smash into the ground, her wings not being fast enough to stop her this time, although they did manage to slow her enough to lower the impact.
Quickly standing back up, she staggered, trying to keep her balance as she was now stepping all over. Finally, she got her balance back and looked at the other pokemon expectantly. She was still proud of herself for not having fainted yet, especially after so many ice attacks. Although she was growing quite weak by this point. Her breathing was heavy, her body feeling sore and tired. She did not move much and felt as if she might faint here in a moment. Again she staggard and she looked at the other two across from her. "Pidg," She called out, hoping that the Buneary would not use that attack again.
She struggled to use a gust, but it was not really worth it. Even if it did hit, it would definitely not do much damage (if any). Her eyes lowered to the ground and she took a few steps back before lowering her body to the ground. She did not want to battle much anymore. She was far too tired. The Buneary was too strong, especially with that Ice Punch. Cawing out to it again, she lowered her head to rest it, but watched them carefully, hoping that if she had to, she could still escape since she doubted she would be able to win at this point.
