Harsh sunlight beat down into the dirt arena as Ava stepped inside, forced to squint against the rays. Raising a hand to shield her eyes, the girl surveyed the area her first fight was about to take place in. The dirt field was about the side of a soccer field, caged in by small concrete audience stands. On either side of the field was a little gateway for the trainers to enter. Not the classiest setting in the world, but considering she had only a single pokemon at level five, she wasn't expecting World Olympics status here. It would do. Although the heat might cause some problems...
Ava wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead and hastily shrugged off her ill-fitting hoodie. "Damn, I am so glad I'm not the one fighting here today..." Her naturally intense expression melted into a sheepish grin as she glanced down at the lonely pokeball in her hand. She and Vires hadn't gotten off to the greatest start... but that almost made her feel guiltier about throwing him out in this heat to battle. Well, sucks. But maybe it'll shape him up. Can't be having this attitude out in the wild... Again Ava's mind wandered to the question of whether her matron had known how annoying Riolu was before gifting him to her. It didn't even cross her mind that her matron had known exactly what she was doing, and that their two personalities were a lot more compatible than Ava realized.
Grey eyes flicking back up to the arena, Ava tossed the pokeball into the air. "Ok, Vires, I'm letting you out! But no 'tude this time, got it?" In a bright flash of white the Riolu appeared. Vires shot Ava a glare and began to stretch his limbs in anticipation of the battle.
Stupid human- what, did she think he would throw the battle just to irritate her? She hadn't even tried to understand him when they first met before zapping him up into the pokeball! Just because he didn't smother her in hugs and affection like the other pokemon didn't mean he hated her! For Christ's sake...
Vires was still grumbling to himself before he realized Ava had trotted closer and was now towering over him. The little fighting pokemon crossed his arms in question.
"Still with the attitude, I see," Ava stated, misinterpreting the Riolu yet again. For all the fact that she'd grown up loving pokemon, her brain just refused to understand this one. It was just one of those relationships. "Well just stay focused on the battle when the other trainer gets here, Vires, and we'll get along fine."
Vires sighed helplessly.

Sure, her Pokemon seemed to like her enough, and - thanks to some computer programs - she knew the basics, but she wasn't so sure that she could hold up that well in battle. Probably not, but she realised that she would never know until she tried. With that in mind, she decided to set off to the battle arena. She hadn't heard much about it, just that it was usually pretty easy to find a battle there, and that it wasn't very fancy.
The day being as hot as it was - and god, was it hot - Jamila decided that clothes were, once again, unnecessary. Of course, the receptionist was a little bit surprised to see a naked girl enter the foyer. After a few minutes of assuring the woman that yes, she was alright, and that no, she wasn't attacked, the young woman found herself being directed to one end a large battle field. She looked over it, trying to decide which Pokemon would be better in the field. For the life of her she couldn't remember if ice-types were supposed to be good in settings like this, or if normal types were.
After a few moments of thinking, she noticed that there was someone else on the field. The naked woman grinned and started waving. "Hi! I'm Jamila!" she turned her attention towards the blue Pokemon. For the life of her, she couldn't tell what it was. The steel things on the back of it's wrists gave a good idea of it's type, though; it was clearly a steel type. She began singing quietly to herself, trying to work out which Pokemon would be best against it. "Steel type are strong, with a lot of resistance-ys, Flying and Bug are two of these. Ghost and Rock, and grass type too. If you bring out a normal type they will crush you." She stopped abruptly, not bothering to remember the rest of the song, when she realised just what it meant; Mousse couldn't take on a steal type.
Jamila pulled out her Cubchoo's pokeball and threw it, releasing her starter. "Hey, Cream Puff, we get to battle!" she exclaimed to the Pokemon, clearly excited. She then looked back up at the other girl and started yelling, making sure that she would be heard over the distance. "You can start!" . Is waiting!

Ava and Vires' confused antics on their side of the field were interrupted upon the arrival of the enemy. Both sets of intense eyes swiveled onto Jamila. Primarily, on the fact that she was naked. Vires simply froze in confusion, his eyebrows twitching, while his trainer froze next to him and openly stared. It continued like that for more than an awkward moment. Finally, though still staring, Ava called hesitantly across the field: "Um.. Are you okay? You're missing your clothes," as if the other trainer didn't notice. But Ava's brain was at a loss for any other words.
Vires shook out of the confusion much faster than his partner, and he patted Ava's leg in indication that they should focus on the fight instead of the naked girl who clearly was comfortable with her situation. Ava nodded. "Yeah, I see her Vires. That's really weird, right? It's freaking me out a little..." Vires growled and patted her leg again, only harder. He dearly hoped their communication would improve over time.
Ava tore her gaze away from Jamila and squinted down at Vires. "What?"
"Rio! Rio-luuu" The Riolu expressed in exasperation, making punching movements along with his words.
A little spark of understanding lit behind Ava's grey eyes. "Right! The battle. Now you're getting it, Vires." Ava smiled and ruffled the baby pokemon's hair. It took a few moments after that for Vires to compose himself. He let the irritation slide in light of Ava's comprehension. "Okay, she brought out an ice type, so I think we're pretty safe," cool eyes glanced over at the other side of the field, diligently avoiding the naked woman. Ava's face had quickly faded back into intensity, and were anyone to pay attention they would quickly notice the similarity between Ava and Vires-- one neither of them had noticed yet. "Not sure who would bring out an ice type on a day like this, especially against a fighting type..." she mumbled to herself, although not patronizingly. She'd take whatever advantage she could get!
"Okay," Ava stated after coming to a mental decision, "try running towards the.. chubchoo, right?" - the one thing Ava had trouble with was remembering all the names to all the pokemon - "So run as if you're going to use a normal attack, then Quick Attack to throw them off. Hopefully they won't see that coming. After you've closed the distance and attacked, back off in case of any sudden retaliation, got it?"
Vires nodded curtly; for once, they were on the same page.
The fighting pokemon promptly began to run towards his opponent, and about half way down the field he disappeared in a flash as he utilized Quick Attack. The Riolu was bearing down on Jamila's Chubchoo at an incredible speed, paws drawn back in preparation to strike...

Probably a good thing, too; she was here to see if she could battle, not to try and defend her views. She looked down at her Cubchoo - who was currently staring her chest - and made a motion towards the field, trying to get him to focus.
When he turned, the naked woman turned her attention towards to Riolu as well. Just as the two looked over, they noticed the blue Pokemon moving towards Cream Puff at a rather fast pace. Cream Puff stood up to get out of the way, though before he could he felt the other Pokemon's weight hit him. Confused, he looked from where the Pokemon was, to where it had been before, and tried to work out how a tackle could go that quickly.
Jamila too was wondering, though not about the other Pokemon's attack - she was too new at this to find that odd, after all - but about what attacks her Pokemon had. She had a name at the tip of her tongue, but she couldn't quite remember it until... "Cream Puff, use Snows Power!" she commanded, sure in her words.
The Cubchoo turned to face his trainer for a moment, trying to work out just what she meant. After a few moments of thought, he decided to take a guess. He turned back towards the other Pokemon and opened his mouth, releasing a cold breeze of air, laced with small pieces of snow. A cheer from Jamila told him that he had done the right thing. . Used Powder Snow!

BURN ME TO THE ASHES AND I'LL RETURN

No notes. Just sorry it took so long to reply ^^"
By the time Cream Puff used snow powder, Vires had already leapt away to put distance between himself and the chubchoo as Ava had requested. Turns out, though, that snow powder had a decently long range… Vires felt the cold even where he stood. It chilled the fighting pokemon and caused his muscles to tense slightly, but for the most part Vires was unaffected. The riolu started to grin in a rather dark manner.
From the sidelines, Ava cheered on, ”perfect! That’s exactly what we wanted. Now jump in for a Crunch and dodge out again, got it?” Might as well stick with what worked, right? Although now without the element of surprise the technique may not be as effective. Depending on if the other new trainer could figure out a counter… But crunch was a powerful move, it would definitely do damage. Ava was starting to become giddy from the adrenaline; not like the fight was too nail-biting, but it was her first!
On the field Vires called back a ”Rio!” of understanding. Muscles tensing in the little blue pokemon, Vires leapt forward, fangs glinting in the hot daylight as he flew in for a crunch attack.

[atrb=cellpadding,10px,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,372,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background: url(http://i897.photobucket.com/albums/ac172/icuwm/16781.png); border-radius: 5px 5px 5px 5px; border: 3px, solid, #2f5b5a; padding: 10px;] Nothing to hide, Battling was actually pretty fun. Sure, there were things about that weren't fun, like her Pokemon getting hurt or that Cream Puff's attack had missed, but Jamila still found that she enjoyed it very much. Still, she wasn't the only one that mattered here; she wanted Cream Puff to enjoy himself too. She glanced down at the ice-type, trying to make sure that he was having fun with this.
Cream Puff wasn't really having fun; it was a little hard to have fun when another Pokemon was biting your side. Even so, he wasn't having the worst time ever. He thought that maybe, if he managed to hit the other Pokemon a few times, this could be fun. It didn't really matter if he won, after all, he'd be stronger either way. He watched the other Pokemon as it started to trot off again, waiting for Jamila to tell him what to do.
The nudist thought for a few moments, trying to remember the little Pokemon's other attacks. Luckily, it didn't take her too long - just enough time for the Riolu to of gotten pretty far away. "Cream Puff, use Avalanche and then Growl!"
The ice type got up and started to run towards the other Pokemon. Sure, he wasn't able to move as fast as the other Pokemon, but that barely mattered; there was only so much room on the battle field. Once he thought he was close enough, he sucked in the mucus dripping from his nose, then opened his mouth once more, this time letting large clumps of snow fly out of it, hopefully hitting his opponent. Once there was no more snow left, the Cubchoo started coughing, though that soon stopped in favour of a growl.
. Avalanche and Growl!
