Emmett made his way slowly through Featherwing city and toward the laboratory where the famous Professor Hawthorne worked. He had heard a great deal about her, mostly focusing on the idea of her being pretty. But, he could not allow his hormones to get the best of him, and thus, had been practicing the whole way so far, trying not to whistle or say anything inappropriate to any of the females around him. He did not want to find himself out on his ass without any pokemon at all, as that would mean he would not be able to travel, even to get back home. And then he would be stuck in this shit hole. He grumbled at the idea, looking over the houses as he felt himself growing irritated.
'What is the point in being so good looking if I can not even hit on all the girls?' He wondered to himself, pausing as he brushed his dark hair from his eyes. It seemed as if his hair had spontaneously become longer today, just to bother him as he walked through the scortching heat, looking for the stupid pokemon lab with the stupid professor who would only be teasing him. After moving his hair, his hand went over his forehead once more, this time smearing the sweat on his brow as he could feel himself growing more and more tired. Pulling a bottle of water from his oversized pant pocket, he seemed to guzzle the whole thing in one drink. He stopped to unbutton his shirt, quickly flipping it around and removing it from his upper body.
He flicked it over his arm, curling his arm into his body as he did so. With that, he then loosened and slightly shook out the gray wife beater he wore, trying hard to sniff himself as he did so. He had been walking and sweating so long, he was not sure how bad he smelt, not that he really cared. Well, actually, he sort of did. If he smelt like shit, then none of the girls would want to be with him. Yet, he had to keep up the facade that he did not care at all about how he looked or smelt. His greasy, messy hair seemed to do the job for him, however. He sighed and leaned up against a sidewalk tree, resting in the shade for a few minutes before pulling a carton of cigarettes from his pocket, quickly snatching one out and holding it to his mouth before dropping the carton back to his pocket, pulling the lighter that rested deeper in his pocket out to light the thing.
His dull eyes looked up and down the road, and he could not help but smile at some of the passing people, folding his shirt the best he could so that it would fit into his back pocket. Puffing gently at his cigarette, he smoked about half of it as fast as he could before again starting toward the lab. After seeing someone walking with a new map and what appeared to be a new pokemon to them, he assumed he was going the right way. Finally, he found what he was looking for. The little building where Professor Hawthorne and her pokemon could be found. He already had an idea of what he wanted. He had found... well stolen a booklet earlier that had all the available pokemon in it. Now all he had to do was talk to the woman in charge of it. With a sigh, he tossed what was left of his cigarette to the floor and stomped on it. Hand lifted to knock on the door and his careless eyes waited to see who would answer.
He could not decide what he wanted... and actually wanted to see a few of the pokemon. But even then, he pulled out the catalog to look over which he would ask for, finally deciding between three before shoving it back into his pocket as quick as he heard someone turning the knob. He liked the idea of Rhyhorn, but Blitzle seemed so strong. Still, he had a secret love for Deerling... But he was a man... could he be seen with a Deerling? Even if it turned into a Sawsbuck? He tried to decide quickly which he would ask for before greeting the professor.

DAFFODIL Unbeknownst to the outside world, nothing but chaos and disorientation was occurring within the Nexivus Laboratory. It was not the loud sort of confusion but it was enough to disturb the Pokémon residing within the lab. Professor Hawthorne and Lilac were racing about the labs interior in order to catch a Rose running rampant. It had been a while since the dragon type Pokémon had escaped it’s Poké Ball, so he was past due for his share of attention. However he had chosen an impolite outlet: he had stolen the professor’s most prized possession from within her office. This particular artifact has been brewing tea for years for the Hawthorne family, so she was determined to keep it from ending with her simply because she could not tame her Gible. “Lavender, dear!” she called between gasps, “could you please give mummy her teapot back? She promises she will not be upset!” Lilac seemed to be sending telepathic encouragements of her own to Rose, but neither of them were getting through to him. Even Lavender joined curried after the trio, but only to pick up each mess they made seconds after she corrected the last, a frantic look marring her dainty face. Daffodil was left the only sane Pokémon to actually hear a rapping from the front door. The mouse Pokémon looked from the door, to her friends, and back until her head began to. What was she to do? She couldn’t answer the door! Unlike Lilac’s telepathic abilities, Daffodil had no method of communicating with humans beside Professor Hawthorne. Hoping that they’d calm down by the time the trainer entered, the Raichu hopped over to the door and cracked it open, giving a soft mewl of greeting before fully opening the door. Daffodil suddenly froze in front of the entrance. Now what!? After an awkward stare-down, she broke her gaze and gestured the trainer inside with her stubby paws. He would have to at least understand that! Remembering what her master did best, Daffodil put on her cheesiest smile, appearing a bit ridiculous upon her tiny, mousy face.

Emmett could not help but raise an eye brow in disbelief as a Raichu opened the door. He scoffed and looked around before looking the little pokemon over. It was not a bad looking creature, he actually quite enjoyed how it appeared, but he could not believe that the Professor had sent a pokemon to answer the door, and one who could not even speak to him at that. "Uh hi," He said in response to her greeting noise, or what he assumed was a greeting. She gestured him to come in and widened her smile, making Daffodil look ridiculous. Emmett almost laughed, but held it back, still not wanting to give off the wrong impression right away. He forced somewhat of a smile on his face and nodded to the Raichu before following it inside the building.
His head instantly snapped to the side as he heard a commotion going on. He wondered what was happening until he finally spotted three pokemon and a Professor running around like maniacs. He chuckled softly as he watched them trying to catch the little Gible and retrieve something from it, a teapot or something of that sort. He wondered if it decided that would be a game, steal the thing that the Professor would have to love the most, being such a maniac for tea all the time. So he wanted to play tag, and she was it. Emmett chuckled once more before looking down at the Raichu, wondering why it wasn't helping them chase down the little dragon fellow.
"Hello? I'm here to get my first pokemon!" He called out, his voice deep and gruff. He then took a few steps toward them, assuming that he could not cause any more of a ruckus than what that little pokemon had already done. He figured why not help them? At least then he would get his starter pokemon quicker. Plus, maybe if he saved the Professor's tea pot, he would end up on her good side. He did not want to stay here long anyway and could not imagine sitting for an hour while they tried to get the tea pot back, and then if they did it might be broken by that point and then the Professor would be in a bad mood anyway. Locking in on the little pokemon, he tried to snatch it up before it could continue to run rampant.
Either way, he hoped that now the 'game' would be over. He tried to go over the pokemon that had been in his stolen booklet once more, but at this point was having a hard time focusing. Dull eyes rested on Professor Hawthorne and Emmett could not help but find himself wanting to hit on her like he did with every other woman he ever spotted. Of course, he realized that even with his practicing the whole way here, it would be harder than he realized to not say anything to her. Mostly due to the fact that when he just passed someone he only saw them for a few moments. That was no longer the case here, however, as she would be having an actual conversation with him. He bit his lower lip and did his best not to say anything else until he was spoken to.
OoC|| My posts are kinda suckish. I'm assuming my muse is dead and I have't realized it yet. XD

NEXIVUS LABORATORIES If a Raichu could blush, that’s what Daffodil would be doing. The cute mouse pokemon made little noises that were probably its form of giggling and prodded the door shut behind Emmett. After that she simply watched the man, kind of at a loss for what to do next despite her good intentions. But it seemed fine anyway as the man appeared to become intent on Rose’s little game. Daffodil carefully followed behind him as he approached the crazy scene.
Rose hadn’t even noticed someone else enter the building even though Emmett had quite loudly announced his presence; he was too excited about the fact that everyone was paying attention to him. Thus, when Emmett popped out of nowhere and reached out for the little pokemon, Rose barely had time to react—before he knew it, he was captured tightly in Emmett’s arms. The gible struggled briefly but to no avail; Emmett was too determined to stop this game for Rose to have even a chance of getting away. He looked downtrodden, nonetheless handing the tea kettle over to Hawthorne as the flustered woman approached.
Breathing heavily, Hawthorne weakly took the kettle from Rose and nodded a greeting to Emmett. It took a little bit for her to compose herself enough to speak. Carefully setting down the kettle on her desk and hastily brushing her hair into place, Hawthorne finally uttered a greeting: ”Huff… Hello. Sorry about all this, huff… Rose can be pesky.” Hawthorne shot a tough-love glare at the gible, though her face didn’t look very upset. Just worn out. A moment later, Hawthorne looked quickly back at Emmett and blinked. ”Did Daffodil let you in..? What a silly girl, she’s always trying her best.” A fond smile lit up the Professor’s face back to its normal cheer. She recovers quickly.
”Allow me to introduce myself! I’m Professor Hawthorne. And you must be here for a pokemon. Would you like any tea while you flip through our booklet of the starters we offer?” Hawthorne had on her best hostess smile in an attempt to make up for the mess Emmett walked in to, and she motioned for Lilac to go grab the pack of starter items while they waited. The gardevoir sighed mentally; first the craziness courtesy of Rose and now another rush of incoming trainers. Things could certainly get busy around here.//No worries! Your post wasn’t bad at all :3 Feel free to just have Emmett say what kind of pokemon he wants in the next post if you want this to move quickly~

Emmett's smile actual grew, for once as he managed to grasp the little pokemon. The Professor quickly retrieved her item. The pokemon had struggled for a few moments before giving up, allowing him to hold it without much effort. Em watched carefully as the Professor managed to take her tea pot, or kettle, whatever it was and waited for her to catch her breath, apologizing for the little Gible and what it had done, not to mention the ruckus it had caused. He chuckled softly, but only briefly looked at the Professor, his dull gray eyes remaining on the little pokemon. "Should I set him down now?" He asked gruffly, once again looking up momentarily.
"Yes, Daffodil let me in, if that is the Raichu?" He tilted his head, looking at the Raichu. "She was quite friendly as well, deserve a raise I think," He chuckled before looking at his arms once more where the Gible had been. It was only a moment before the Professor knew what he was there for. Offering some tea and the booklet for the starters. "While I might normally want some tea, I think I will pass today. Thank you, I do hear you have delightful tea, but, I am not too thirsty right now," He smiled, once again only looking at her momentarily before grabbing the booklet. He already knew what pokemon she had to offer, but flipped through it quickly anyway, not wanting to appear rude.
"I am interested in Deerling, but I think I will have to go for a Blitzle," He said, looking back up at her. While he liked the little deer pokemon, he could not imagine walking around with a girly looking pokemon. At least not right now. Maybe later on, but for now the little electric Blitzle was what he wanted. It still had hooves, after all. Not to mention, it seemed to be much stronger, and was quite attractive. That was the pokemon he wanted, he nodded to himself, excited to recieve his pokemon and move on. He did not want to hang around here too long, once again hoping to avoid causing any problems with the Professor by saying something inappropriate to her. "My name is Emmett by the way. Emmett Bourne."

NEXIVUS LABORATORIES ”Should I set him down now?”
Hawthorne quickly looked up from what she was doing and hesitated a second while staring thoughtfully at the Gible. ”No… I think it’s best if I just return him.” She responded slowly, as if wishing she could’ve replied differently but knowing Rose would only be a hassle at the moment. In a flash of red, Rose disappeared into a pokeball. Not that that was always a fail-proof way to contain him… Hawthorne gently set the pokeball down on her desk and turned her attention back to Emmett.
”She was quite friendly as well, deserves a raise I think.” Hawthorne laughed at the man’s joke and turned her sparkling eyes onto Daffodil. ”You think?” She asked, joking along. ”Well in that case I’ll get right on it. She has been quite the helping hand lately.” Daffodil ‘blushed’ again and flicked her tail back and forth playfully; she was enjoying all the positive attention. After a last moment of watching her pokemon, Hawthorne’s gaze turned to Emmett as he was replying to her tea inquiry. The woman pursed her lips and shrugged. ”It’s up to you, of course! Although how any could pass up tea… But thank you, I’ve been told my tea is quite delightful.” The flattery about her tea but the Professor back on track.
I am interested in Deerling, but I think I will have to go for a Blitzle.” Hawthorne nodded and turned briskly to gather the blitzle pokeballs. ”Deerlings are fantastic companions, especially once they evolve, but blitzles do have that tough, manly touch about them from the get-go,” the woman commented amiably as she returned.
In a flash of bright light three blitzles appeared.
All three of the horse pokemon approached Emmett. The first was appraising him, looking him over and sniffing the air around him. Hawthorne focused on this one first. ”That guy has one heck of a determination and sense of competition. He really enjoys the glory of victory and doesn’t give himself a break. Because of this he can be a bit hostile, but he is an intimidating opponent on the battle field. I personally think he’s an attention hog.” Her words were not unkind; in fact, they carried a fond undercurrent.
The second blitzle, who had looked excited upon immediately leaving the pokeball, now had a disappointed expression on his horsey face. Nonetheless, he trotted over to Emmett in order to examine the potential trainer. ”He can be a horn-dog,” Hawthorne stated bluntly, watching him spot the last blitzle, a female blitzle, and approach her in order to schmooze. ”It leads him to be somewhat distracted if females are in the area, but if he’s focused he’s a feisty pokemon. Clever, too. Just be sure to keep his impulses in check.”
And then there was the third blitzle, who was currently looking flattered by whatever the second blitzle was telling her. Hawthorne grinned. ”She’s a very friendly pokemon. She prefers stability and support, so if you show her support she’ll gladly return the favor. Also, she is very levelheaded as pokemon go and isn’t easily spooked or intimidated.” Turning her eyes away from the electric types, Hawthorne continued on, ”do any of them suit you?”

Emmett nodded to the idea of returning the Gible to its pokeball. He really did not want to be sitting here trying to catch it again if it decided to do something like steal on of his items on his way out. Although, he knew he would be able to do it quickly again. He was that good. He just could not be sure that he would be able to leave with all his items in the time he wished to if this fellow kept trying to take his stuff. He could not even imagine having a pokemon that was like that and always stealing from him. His arms clasped together as teh pokemon disappeared form between them.
He smiled as she joked back, looking at the Raichu, but still trying to stay focused on receiving the pokemon he wanted. So he allowed it to remain at that. "Once again, thank you for the offer," He said, wondering if he really could use tea, but chased off the thought. It was too hot for tea right now. Plus, he was not much of a tea person anyway. He was more into water, always. It was only a few more moments before he found himself staring wide eyed at three of the horse like pokemon. He had to admit, they were good looking. A small smile worked its way across his face as he looked each over carefully.
Kneeling down, he reached an arm out to touch the first one, the one that was determined and competitive. He liked that . He too was competitive, usually. Wanting to be the best. That was something they had in common. It was only a split moment before he found himself chuckling at the second Blitzle. A horn dog. He had often been called that in his life and could imagine the fun he would have with a pokemon like himself in that sense. He liked this fellow, watching it approach the third one, a female. He could not help but laugh at it, standing back up properly before looking at the third Blitzile, the female who appeared amused by what the second male was speaking to her.
He had to admit, a female would be great. Especially one who was not intimidated. His dull eyes looked over and rested on each as the Professor asked if any of them fit him. He smiled before looking up at her and back down. "I think I'll have to take the second one. He will be a humorous partner and I'm sure we can work distractions out of him, at least when in battle," He smiled, his head cocking as he watched it continue to do his thing with the female. He loved this little fellow already. It would be the perfect match for him, into the ladies, but still feisty and clever. While it might be a bit hard to keep it focused and on track at first, he had a feeling it would be a wonderful pokemon down the road. On and off the battle field. He nodded at his choice, sure that this was the right one for him.

NEXIVUS LABORATORIES
"I think I'll have to take the second one. He will be a humorous partner and I'm sure we can work distractions out of him, at least when in battle." Hawthorne returned all three of the pokemon with a laugh, "Oh yes, my dear. He is definitely an amusing little guy." She grinned, shoving two of the pokeballs into her lab-coat pocket so she could take them back to their rightful place in the other room. She held out the chosen pokeball for Emmett to take. She put her finger to her lips, "Did I give you the ite- Ah, thank you, Lilac." The Gardevoir handed the boy a plastic bag full of items with a half smile. Hawthorne then grabbed a clipboard, passing it to the male and asking him to fill it in. Afterwards, she disappeared into the back room, Lilac watching over the male. Congratulations! Emmett grinned as he took the pokeball the Professor handed him along with the baggy of items the Gardevoir had. His eyes did not move from the curious little pokemon as he watched it, upset that the female was now gone. He rolled his eyes and chuckled before looking over the items in his bag. They would certainly be useful. He nodded to the Professor as she handed him a clipboard of papers, and filled them out in the quickest manner he could, which was not very fast.
He found himself too distracted by his pokemon. While he had never been a huge fan of pokemon, he now had his own, and completely adored it already. Of course, he did not want others to realize that, but it was the truth. Passing the clipboard back to Professor Hawthorne's pokemon as they waited, he realized the Professor had left, assuming that was his signal to go as well, he nodded and smiled, walking toward the door and calling to the pokemon as it trotted toward him, still looking around curiously for the female Blitzle, wondering where it had disappeared too.
"Thank you!" Emmett paused at the door to call out to the Professor and her pokemon, wherever they had all gone at this point. He made sure to grab his shirt, wherever he had left it after trying to catch the Gible and quickly threw it back on, buttoning it up hurriedly, missing a few buttons and making the shirt look quite dumb as he nodded once more and walked out the door. Now, he needed to find a backpack for all this stuff and some more water, the heat instantly reminding him why it had been nice to be inside the lab. He sighed before pulling out a cigarette and lighting it, looking back at his new pokemon once more. "Now.... what to call you?" He wondered aloud, removing the cigarette momentarily from his mouth before the two started off toward the city.
