Van walked among the massive crowds of people waking their way through the city, occasionally brushing with others shoulders and getting the slight bump from those who were in a rush. Van never really understood that concept of being in a ‘rush’, unless, of course, it came from a substance. Why did people have to race from one place to another? Eventually they were going to get there anyways, rushing would just make you over see things and put stress on yourself.
He didn’t have to worry about that today or any other day. Van was in no rush getting to the lab, holding the crumbled piece of paper someone had scribbled the directions from town onto. His shaded eyes glanced down at them and then back up at the street signs. A cloud of smoke rose from his mouth as he gave one glance and then walked down the less crowded street way.
This place was new to him, which was something that made him more alert than usual. Van had down a good amount of traveling in his time even for someone as young as him, so to be in surroundings was a rare feeling for him. He thought he had traveled as many places as possible, but he was wrong. This was the exact reason why he was coming to this lab. Getting a Pokemon would allow him to spread his wings a little, explore new places and even live a little. A journey sounded like the perfect distraction to him. He had all the time in the world with nothing and no one to hold him back. To hear about this and just simply ignore the opportunity seemed foolish to him.
Everything was now quiet around him as he left the heart of the city. It seemed there were less people willing to risk their lives in a battle with the abnormal Pokemon than he had expected. Ah, well, their loss, he smiled to himself. He inhaled one last sweet breath of nicotine before tossing the butt into the grass and walking on, the building just steps away from him. He approached the door and opened it without even a thought of knocking and stepped right through. At least he had the manners to stop at the front hallway and wait for a moment, searching for something or someone to greet him. After a moment, he glanced up at the walls and stuck his hands inside of his pockets, blowing a sarcastically cheerful tune.
ooc; x--x; sorry for the wait! erm...new character so my posts will be short until I get the hang of him <3 is also hoping for a murkrow oUo <3

LAVENDER
That silly Daffodil had left Professor Hawthorne’s tea tray out in the main room again. The ever-busy Audino sighed before balancing the tray atop her head and set to scrubbing at the table it’d been place upon with a mangled rag. Lavender certainly wished there was a rag out there durable enough for her vigorous cleaning habits, her reserve of them was running low. It was only a matter of time before she begged the professor—who hated purchasing such useless pieces of cloth— to invest in a pack of new washing rags. It’s always been her dream to own a small collection of rainbow-patterned rags, the thought of all those bright colors and cleanliness to come bringing a small smile to her face. Her pleasant thoughts were then interjected by the sound of the front door opening and closing, sounding similar to a grater to her profound hearing.
Oh no! People needed to learn how to use the doorbell! Or knock, it really wasn’t that difficult! Gathering her small arsenal of cleaning supplies in her arms, Lavender quickly hurried away, hoping the stranger wouldn’t catch sight of her. The normal type happened to pass Hawthorne in the back hall, but thankfully she wasn’t questioned of her sudden briskness. As the professor entered the large room she noticed a random man whistling down her front hall. That explained her Audino’s rapid escape. Placing a beaming smile on her face she greeted, “Hello there! I’m Professor Hawthorne, welcome to my laboratory. Please…do come in.” As if that last bit was even necessary to mention to the young man.
