Emmett strutted through the city, head high and confidence roaring. He would occasionally stop to harass a woman passing by, trying one of his rather annoying pick up lines or something of that sort. He even managed to slap a few asses before running off before anything could be thrown at him or an angry boyfriend/husband could beat the hell out of him. A jester's grin was plastered across his face, his general appearance coming off as smug. His rather dull eyes watched everyone with a lack of interest, only sparking up for two or three seconds at a time, while going after woman, of course. His strides were long, his pace quick and even as he tried to decide where to go from here. He was sort of hungry, but wanted to find a pokemon out here to battle and try out his new Blitzle on. Still, he was not having any luck with that sort of thing.
Finding himself growing rather annoyed by this fact, he stopped to look at Spoq, the Blitzle. However, when he turned to see the zebra like pokemon, it was gone! He looked around frantically, trying to spot the black and white fellow before he heard it. Back tracking, he laughed immediately. The pokemon had found itself hitting on a few other female pokemon, all with their trainers. A group of good looking women. "Aaah yeahh," Emmett grinned to himself, proud of Spoq, but disappointed the pokemon had not warned him, but instead went off on his own. Still, it was rather humorous, especially when he watched one of the pokemon, a Deerling snap at him. The second and third, Mareep and Skitty only rolled their eyes at the pokemon and tried to ignore it.
However, the Skitty could not help but find herself somewhat interested in whatever Spoq told it. He remained cool, making Emmett wonder what he was saying. Still, that did not stop him from strutting right up to the trainers. "Hey ladies," He grinned from ear to ear. "I see you've all meet my Blitzle, now time to meet the real cutie of the team," His voice boomed out as he made his way the best he could between the women and their pokemon. Of course, this did not go over so well. Within a few jokes and words from Emmett, he was thwacked over the head with a purse and yelled at. With a chuckle, he took off quickly in the opposite direction, Spoq also laughing and chasing them. He hoped and laughed, almost falling on his face a few times as he pranced about Emmett's feet, going on about the hot pokemon he had been hitting on, one of which found him attractive. His tail waggled and he shook his head excitedly.
<Blit, Blitzle!> He continued to cry, Emmett chuckling and nodding. "I saw, I saw! Little playa in the making!" He grinned, patting Blitzle. "But dude, next time, give me a heads up, mann!" He continued to laugh out of sheer amusement. His stomach grumbled once more and he heard his pokemon's do the same. "Let's grab something to eat, yeah?" He said, stopping to look around, as Spoq nodded in agreement. It was still hard to make it there, however, the pair easily being distracted by anything with lady parts. Or even the possibility of lady parts. After following several different woman and their pokemon, the duo were darn near completely lost and Emmett wondered if the second pokemon on the team could help. Although, he worried. The little Sandile did not seem to like Blitzle, or the Growlithe egg resting in his backpack. Shaking his head, he decided to wait and let the pokemon out after they had found a place to eat grab some food.
Finally, he spotted somewhere. A little cafe down the road. taking off quickly, Emmett darn near sprinted for the building, Spoq close behind. The Blitzle had a lot more energy to it than Emmett did, hopping about and crying happily, but this time tried hard to remain at Emmett's side and not wander off after any females. "Well, I'm thinking this might be the only place we find in the next half hour, since I figure we'll end up more distracted than anything. Or lost..." Emmett looked down at Spoq before swinging the door open. He looked around, there weren't many here. Mostly men. Besides the waitress who beckoned them to sit at the bar, where she placed out a menu for Emmett and offered to get them drinks. Spoq remained on the floor, where she put out a dish of water for him and Emmett finally released Veloc, his newly acquired Sandile to get some water and eat as well.
Ordering a beer for himself, he waited for the woman to come back and take his order. Pulling an egg carefully from his back, he cradled it for a moment before placing it on the opposite side of his drink. A menu remained next to his seat, making him wonder if someone else had been sitting there, not that he cared anyway. "Hey, sweet cheeks, can we get the best food you've got for my little friends here," He started, pointing at Spoq and Veloc, "And a hamburger with fries for myself." The waitress had blushed and nodded in response. He was excited to eat, his stomach roaring as he waited for the dish to finally come out. Thanking the woman and winking at her, he wished she had been a bit younger. He would have definitely been all over her if she had been. But right now, he was more focused on his food anyway.
Scarfing it down in only a matter of minutes, Emmett looked down to see Veloc and Spoq had done the same thing. The three of them sat there, bellies full and feeling much better than before as they looked around for someone Emmett or Spoq could approach. But it was pretty dull within the place. Drinking his beer like it was the best thing ever made, Emmett was more than pleased he was twenty-two and could finally drink legally. He sighed to himself, running a hand through his greasy mess of black hair as it continuously fell into his face. He needed to shave, but was too lazy to do it right now. He was more focused on his pokemon right now. He currently wore a pair of ripped up jeans, worn down shoes, and a button up shirt. He was starting to feel a bit hot, but did not care enough to remove his shirt and sit in his undershirt just yet. At least not until he left the cafe. He did not want to stink up the place, having been sweating all day and not having taken a shower or put on much deodorant, he felt his best bet was to keep the shirt on.
Sighing, he wondered if anyone of interest would come in before he decided to up and leave. Focused more on his egg, which was even colored like the Growlithe within, than anything else. He continued to reach out and feel the egg, wondering if it would hatch sometime soon. He desired the pokemon within it greatly and wished it had already hatched, but had refused to buy one of the great incubators, wanting to wait and allow the pokemon to hatch itself. With a grunt, he looked back down at Blitzle and Sandile, wondering if they were about done and ready to go. He needed to finish his beer, of course, but he did not want to hurry if they were still enjoying the air conditioning and what was left of their food and drinks.

He walked the city with just Garnet in his arms and carrying a clipboard. Griff was taking donations, you see, for the Pokemon Rights Foundation in Oxgate City. They were opening a new office in the Oxgate slums, where they were needed most, as evidenced by the poor thing he held in his arms now. The blind vulpix cooed and simpered for passer-bys as Griff asked for small donations, just £5 would help! It's for a good cause! Why, thank you, sir, for your generous donation of £500! We shall name a bench after you, sir!
It was just him and Garnet now. Volta decided she'd rather waste their earnings in the casino, and Sprite was proving to be a horrible influence on Bess. He'd introduced her to books, and then Griff, being an idiot, introduced Bess to libraries. Ever since, Bess had pored herself in endless tomes. She now considered herself an expert in various topics such as flower arrangement, formal dinner etiquette, and the washing of dishes. On the upside, Sprite liked libraries himself and didn't seem to terribly mind babysitting Bess while he read his own books.
Garnet's stomach growled. <Vuul,> she complained, as if he hadn't noticed the sound of her pending starvation. "Yeah, I'm hungry too. You care where we eat?" The vulpix shook her head vigorously, so Griff stepped into the first diner he spotted.
The diner had a bar, a handsome mafia-and-flappers era setpiece, and its clientele seemed roughly the same variety of working men enjoying a drink and a meal after a hard day's work. A vague scent of smoke filled the place, but it was the sharp coal smell of steamboats and furnaces, not so much the smoke of nicotine and cloves. So Griff was a little surprised when he saw Emmett sitting at the bar, but overall, he was surprised to see Emmett altogether, the place was pretty irrelevant.
"Bourne! Small fucking world," Griff said as he slid up to the bar. "How've you been?"
Garnet leapt from his arms and landed on the counter. She turned her nose and sniffed about, isolating the scents of the blitzle and sandile, but she was looking for the waitress, whose apron was scented with grease and a bit of pen ink. <Vuuulpix,> she suggested. "Red meat for the Vulpix, ma'am," Griff asked, because Garnet was not partial to kibble. "If you've got raw stew chunks or a slab of steak, that'll do wonderfully. Chicken caesar for myself. Thanks, love." 412 words ...are prisoners usually on first name terms? notes tsavo tag

Emmett raised his head quickly as a familiar face too the seat next to him. He had magenta hair and that familiar skinny appearance. The both of them were similar in that way. Mostly skin and bone, unless flexing, but even than, this boy had always been a bit smaller than Emmett. Emmett had always found him to have a strange appearance. The fellow was not only tiny, but had a more feminine appearance all around. Rather than 'handsome' or 'hot' he was pretty. Still, he had a strong personality and Emmett had always admired him, even if this fellow was younger than himself. But then again, Emmett had never really been that bad. Whereas Griffith was always out pulling a fast one on someone.
Emmett smiled one of his few real grins, as he looked the fellow over. It had not been /that/ long since the last time they had meet up in jail, although since Emmett was never in longer than a few days at a time before his mum bailed him out, he never really saw Sunshine for long. Still, the few times they had talked in jail or ended up being cell mates, he found himself completely intrigued by this fellow, wanting to be more like him. Minus the part where Griffith always got caught. He snorted, as the fellow spoke to him. "Indeed it is!" He roared out, Emmett had always had a booming voice, "I've been doing good. I see you are out again. When do you plan on going back, Griffith?" His tone was playful and joking, pleased to see at least one familiar face and one person who wished to talk to him in this place.
By this point, Blitzle was interested in the Vulpix on the counter. Lifting himself up the best he could to see what was going on, he snorted and whinned at the thing. Wanting attention for himself. Not to mention, it was a female, and Spoq was quite a horn-dog himself. He snorted happily, letting out a few <Blit, Blitzle, Blitz> to try and woo the creature over. Emmett chuckled and looked up at Griffith, shaking his head at his little zebra-like pokemon. "What new schemes do you have going on?" He said, looking at the clipboard the magenta haired boy had come in with. His voice had become a tad bit quieter, wanting to really know the scam and even try to get in on it. Griff always had good ideas about these sorts of things. While he would never admit it to anyone but himself, Emmett knew that Griffith was the real trouble maker bad-boy.

"I've been doing good. I see you are out again. When do you plan on going back, Griffith?"
Griff laughed and shook his head, lifting the cuff of his jeans so the police anklet were more visible. "I'm still not out yet. Well, out, but not free," Griff clarified. "They said they had high hopes of a normal future for me, and then they sent me to the pretty professor here to start life anew as a pokemon trainer. So... here I am, living a life without crime." It was a lie delivered with perfect credibility, not with effected wide-eyed innocence but casual, hey-whatever, why-not sort of apathy.
Vulpix smelled the Blitzle and one whiff was enough to let her know what he was all about. <Vul,> she commanded with a gesture of the paw. Turn around, she wanted, all set to make judgments.
"What new schemes do you have going on?"
"Eh. Too busy training the pokemon to get into real trouble," he lied again. If anything, pokemon ready for battle were twice as effective conspirators than street pokemon. "There's the Pokemon Rights Foundation in Oxgate though, you heard of it? I imagine not, you're not from there. Found my girl Garnet there, and I promised them I'd see what I could do about fund-raising. Good cause and all, you know?" It wasn't that good of a cause, apparently. Griff had had better luck collecting money for cancer research--although now he wondered if he should consider fund-raising for pharmaceuticals, money for researchers desperately working to find a cure to the Darkness. That could be a good sell.

Emmett chuckled at the site of the 'shackle'. It was humorous to him. This fellow had finally been let out but was still on their lists. Still being tracked. He was definitely way worse than Emmett had ever been. He shook his head, taking another swig of his beer before nearly slamming the glass down, well almost. It was forceful enough to make an almost booming noise, not that that was different from any of the others who seemed to set their beers down the same way, but was still gentle enough to keep from shattering the glass. He did not believe that this fellow was living a crime free life. Emmett really could not believe it. This man was always in and out of jail. Always. He could not just suddenly decide to stray from crime.
"Uh huh," Emmett replied, raising a brow as he flashed a smile that obviously showed his disbelief. Looking around the counter, the waitress had looked over at the two males a few times, apparently eavesdropping, or something of the sort as she began to appear a little more nervous at the thought of real criminals in the building. Not that Emmett was ever a real criminal. Sure, he broke the law, but he never really did anything too bad. A few M.I.C.s, caught with illegal substances, shoplifting... simple stuff really. Of course, his mum always insisted on sending him to jail for at least a few days. He rolled his eyes at the thought of that snobby woman. Sure, he loved her, but she could have done a better job of raising him.
Blitzle was quite disappointed in the Vulpix basically ignoring him, but was intrigued by her eyes. They were so odd in appearance. He leaned forward and snorted out air as she did not seem interested in him at all, basically ignoring him. Stomping a foot he allowed another <Blitz> to run from his mouth before turning and stomping his foot again, moving in a circle before standing where he was focused on the little Vulpix still. He was all over females, and while some found him charming, this one seemed more fixated on ignoring him. He could not believe this! He looked at Emmett pleaded for some sort of help, but it was no use. Emmett was too into his own conversation with this bright haired fellow.
Em rolled his eyes again as Griffith went on about being too busy training pokemon. He took another drink of his alcohol, looking around the room again as the fellow continued on about a Pokemon Right Foundation in Oxgate where he got Vulpix from. "Yeah, uh huh. Not sure I believe any of that bull. I'm sure you did not just suddenly turn things around and decide to be mister deeds or some shit," He replied, his cocky grin still going. "I mean, really, you were never the sort of dude who would sign up for charity work unless you were pocketing some cash for yourself. Or at least, that's the feeling I'd always received from ya," Emmett implied that he still knew everything. Something that was obviously a lie. He hated it when others thought they knew more than him, but even if they did not act that way, he would still parade around like he knew about every single thing in the world. Of course, this was all due to the fact that he was the best thing ever created. Or so he convinced himself.
"Sober enough," Em responded coolly. He could not actually imagine going around not drinking or smoking anything, at least. He pushed his hair out of his dull gray eyes once more as he looked at his beer. "I mean, this is the first alcoholic beverage I've had all day. As for the other stuff, since my mom sent me off, I've lost most of my connections," He went on, his voice growing more disappointed as he mentioned the fact he could no longer obtain any sort of drug or illegal substance, since he did not know anyone who was traveling with them or out of any other cities to help him out with them. It was upsetting his first few days traveling, but right now it did not seem to be bothering him. Mostly due to the fact that there were so many new, pretty women and he could get himself as many beers or whatever he wanted without having the bar tender cut him off to try and keep him out of drunken trouble.

The waitress delivered Griff's food, and Garnet's too. Garnet dug in, hungry as she was, and the Blitzle just wasn't very important, not when there was a delicious, bloody steak in front of her. Still, she wasn't completely uninterested. She listened to the Blitzle as it clopped about in a circle, using only her hearing to take measurements. She took her time chewing to make her judgments, and after a moment, she stopped her eating to say an indecisive, open-ended, <Vuuuuulpix.>
"No? Charity used to be my story whenever I found pretty girl with a bleeding heart," Griff admitted as his vulpix played hard to get. (Griff had seen Garnet interact with male pokemon before. He suspected that as simple as the Blitzle seemed, if Garnet hadn't plainly shut him down yet, he might just get lucky.) "Although I'll have you know, I am a charitable man. I never did manage to figure out anything better to do with money once I got my hands on it."
Griff glanced at Emmett, trying to assess if he was actually content without his highs or not. A part of him figured he should keep mum for Emmett's continuing sobriety and good health, but Emmett wasn't the only friend he'd met in prison. "I can see what I can do for you about that. I met a guy from Featherwing that'd ran into trouble for dealing. He's served his time, and I can't imagine him doing anything but the same old shit. Does as much as he sells, by the look of it. Want me to contact him for you?" 265 words sorry it took so long and is so crappy D: notes emmett tag

Emmett listened to Griffith with complete interest. This fellow was an interesting one, of that he was certain. Probably one of his favorite to hear about in his few occasional days in jail. He shook his head and chuckled as Griff admitted that Charity was a good story, especially for the gals. "Oh I'm sure it was the best story to use then. But you know woman," Emmett responded with another chuckle. They were always so much more gullible, quick to fall for scams and to believe whatever they were told. That was something almost every guy knew and Emmett figured it was why they looked for guys so desperately, because it was always too hard for them otherwise. Being used and such.
Emmett figured that as long as he was drinking to a high and then stopped, he was not actually breaking his sobriety. While many would disagree, he found it to be the truth. At least for now. Looking Emmett up and down as he then went on to offering some help with Emmett's current drug issue. "Damn Griffith, you know everyone, eh? Perk of Prison? I would assume that would be one of the few," He said, looking around the room and then back toward his Blitzle, who lifted his head now toward the Vulpix once more. His tail gave a small wag and he tossed his head around momentarily with a, "Blit!" before moving back toward the counter.
While it was a bit intimidating for the horse-like pokemon to watch her eat a bloody steak, since he knew that could very well be him, he pretended that it did not frighten him. He had never found carnivores to be the best type of pokemon to try and work with, but it did not mean he avoided doing it. In fact, anymore it seemed as if the majority of the ones he was out hitting on were meat eaters, but he did not really worry any more. He was becoming a stronger pokemon, in his mind at least, and doubted that Emmett would ever let anything happen to him. His tail wagged again and he reached his head forward toward her, breathing hard.
"Blii Blit Blitzle," He was trying his wooing comments again, Emmett did not doubt that he had said something along the lines of 'knew you'd change your mind' then try to continue on with something about himself being sexy. At least, that was how he always picked up on Spoq's conversations going, since it was similar to his own and they were both treated the same way. The pokemon's tone was cool and his little tantrum seemed to have passed over completely by now. Mostly due to the fact that he figured the Vulpix was no longer trying to chase him off, but instead giving him a chance. He pulled his best 'I'm cool' face and Emmett rolled his eyes with another small laugh before raising his dull eyes to look back at Griff.
"If you would, that would be awesome," He remarked happily. Oh how he would love to get his hands on something, anything. In fact, he would go out and razor a billion dollars just to build up enough cocaine for a small high... if he had a razor. He was certain that finding the bills would not be too difficult, but he was not certain that would actually work. It was only a rumor he had heard. Although he would admit, he would rather stick to weed for now. Getting messed up with the Noctus threat did not seem like the best of ideas. Not to mention, he did have his team to work with. However, he was still not going to pass up the opportunity that Griffith offered him. "Most of those who go in come back out doing the same shit, haw? So then why do they insist on continuously arresting them. It obviously does not work. Unless we are all out gunning down people, I do not see that much of a problem," Emmett rolled his eyes again and wondered if he would actually pay for his meal today or not.

Yeah, Griff knew women. He knew that they were anything from terrifying to flighty to serious to, on occasion, completely wonderful. He also suspected that one of the greatest challenges of the world would be playing a successful wingman to Emmett Bourne--someday, he'd have to give it a try. "That's not the best story for the ladies, mate, but I don't like sharing the best in broad day light, you know? But at least that one's a true story, or at least it was some of the time. I do like collecting money for good causes and that sort of thing," he said with a grin.
Garnet realized Spoq was a bit of a mouth breather. Well, that wasn't very attractive. She scooted away, intent on enjoying her steak without throwing a temper tantrum at the blitzle if at all possible. If not, well, her fire attacks weren't very indoor-friendly. Garnet couldn't see the blitzle's attempt at being cool, but she suspected he was going through all the usual gestures.
"Sometimes, rehab actually works--you ought to know that, man. But this guy, no, he's definitely still running snuff. Maybe he's dead already though, but if he is, I'll run into someone else if I try to contact him. Dealers always know when to poach clientele," Griff said. He glanced at the waitress, who seemed to be growing less and less comfortable with their presence. Quickly, he gestured for his check, and when he received it with more the regular haste, Griff paid in cash and left an overly generous tip. To the waitress, he smiled and said, "My thanks--not every place takes care of my vulpix's quirks."
Garnet ate fast, finishing off her steak at a pretty record speed. To her credit, it wasn't particularly large, and she had been particularly hungry. Wiping her nose and mouth on a napkin with some difficulty, she turned to Griff with a delicate whine.
Griff glanced at the blitzle. He'd noticed its passes, of course, but he figured Garnet could shove him away just fine on her own. But then, she'd also spent most of her time in a laboratory recuperating from old injuries, so perhaps not. "Hey, Garnet, you up for a fight?" Griff asked. If it were possible, it looked like a brightness gleamed in Garnet's blind, grey eyes. "Emm, let's head outside. You're a trainer now, right? How about a battle? Your blitzle, my vulpix." words 401 notes time to d-d-d-d-duel? tag emmett

Emmett shook his head at Griff with another chuckle as he finished his beer. He liked this fellow, while Griff would never be as good as himself (in his mind anyway) he was a pretty awesome person otherwise. "Well of course, not. I'm sure you would rather keep the best stories for yourself anyway. Wouldn't want some other guy running around using them. Then they would be of no use to yourself, right? And I believe ya, good causes and such," He looked around, picking up his egg as he watched the Vulpix once more. Spoq did not seem to be responding much at this point, just sort of watching her as she finished her food, waiting for something to happen, for her to notice him again.
His tail gave a small wag, but other than that, he just rested his head on the counter, waiting to see. "Well sometimes. If you want to get better, I suppose. But most of the people I know would rather run a fun life than a better one. Don't worry about it too much, bro. If you can't get a hold of him, I'm sure I'll run into someone interesting before I continue on to the next area. I do still have a while before that gym anyway," He sighed. He had not really trained his pokemon at all so far, just kinda... goofed around. Oh well. He set out the money for his own check and tip, but was not as generous as Griff was. Besides, he figured the dude gave enough of a tip that the waitress would be pleased either way. Standing, he was surprised when he turned to grab his little orange and black egg to see the Vulpix suddenly finished her steak.
Spoq, however, was not amazed, rather frightened. He could have been that steak! It suddenly dawned on him as he moved away from the Vulpix and close to Emmet's side. "Battle?" Emmett looked up to see Griffith once more. He had not really battled at all since he recieved little Spoq. But how it sounded fun, especially since he knew he would win. "Yeah, let's do it!" He responded enthusiastically, walking outside as the light momentarily blinded him. He figured that it would be safer to battle on the street, rather than in the little cafe. "What do you say, Spoq?" He asked the pokemon, who stamped his foot excitely. Man, did he want to battle! This was pleasing for Emmett, until he remembered the Professor's warning that the creature was easily distracted, which would surely be bad for the battle, unless he could keep it focused.
<Ooh a battle. I'll try not to hurt you, babe> The pokemon said in a cocky tone, looking back at the Vulpix, only to dance around Emm's feet and move to the opposite side of his trainer, figuring the man would protect him if it came down to it. Especially if this beauty wanted to eat him! His tail gave another small wag and he found himself more ready to dual than he expected. Moving off a few feet, Emmett looked back at Griffith. "First battle, though, dude. So while I do realize I am awesome at everything in life, this might not be the greatest thing you have ever rested your eyes on. Not to mention, it is his first battle as well. And obvioously, he does not have my amazing attention span," He used his thumb to point back at Blitzle. He did not worry that he was going to loose. No, he had to win. He did worry that he might do something foolish, however. Still, Blitzle was ready to fight. He shook himself and watched the Vulpix curiously. Obviously it was blinde, so how was it going to battle him? He pondered it curiously, already distracted from the surroundings.
