She had not actually wanted to come her, in fact, she did not really know how she even made it here. In fact, she did not know how to use a training center at all. No one had ever told her about one of these. Mostly she had only ever heard about battle as far as training went. But, her little Houndour was intent on getting some levels in and becoming much stronger by the end of today. So, here they were. She stood there excitedly, her tail wagging like a whole other creature as she glanced around and tried to decide how she wanted to train first. Finally, her eyes rested on what looked like the perfect course. Barking to let Jackie know they were moving again, she trotted to this new area.
Jackie sighed and followed curiously, wondering how her Houndour suddenly became the leader of the group. She shook her head, but allowed it to lead, her Riolu following closely. Still, the little blue female was easily distracted, often starting to wander off in different directions before realizing she had gone in the wrong directions and the others had continued on. In which case, she would basically squeal and take off after the others. Because of this, Tyr often tried to hold onto one of the others, generally Jackie herself. She walked tall and high,, wondering if the next time they came her it might be her turn to learn and train. But she did not mind having to wait for her turn. She expected Tsuki to go first. She was basically the leader of the team and while Jackie was dominant, Tsuki was much more so. So for now, Tyr would find something to distract herself with and wait until next time to come back.
The third member of the team, a shy Squirtle, rested in Jackie's arms. Any frightening noises forced her quickly back into her shell, which often responded in Jackie nearly dropping her and frightening her even more. She was a curious creature, just shy and easily frightened. Luckily, for now she was still the strongest of the team, and thus did not need any training for now. At least not until after Tyr's turn. Hopefully. Not that the Squirtle would really care. She did not mind being a level ten Squirtle for the rest of her life. But that was because Koda did not want to have to deal with any thing scary or harmful to herself. Instead, she wished to just sit around and watch the others. Remain safe and protected by Tyr and Tsuki, in Jackie's arms. She peeked out of her shell as the group approached the area where Tsuki wished to train and at this point, Tyr wandered off once more, careful to keep the others in ear shot.
Jackie's bright green eyes looked over the field taking in what her Houndour wanted to do. There was a bit of a bench, a moving dummy, and what looked like a tree without branches. "Alright, well I suppose we could practice your two offensive moves, yeah? I'm assuming your good to go with Leer and Howl?" Jackie asked her pokemon, only to be greeted by a Leer, sending Koda back into her shell. To this, Jackie rolled her eyes and gave the shell a bit of a hug, whispering that things would be alright, Tsuki was just picking on her. "I am going to guess that was a yes," Jackie sighed, readjusting the shelled pokemon and looked around. "Alright! Let's see an ember attack on the moving target!" She called out, only to realize that Tsuki's aim was not perfect. While some of the attack had managed to hit, the rest had missed. "Nice one," She smiled, only to hear a grumbled growl in response. Tsuki was never to thrilled about positive reinforcement.
"How about we try again on the still target?" Jackie asked, pleased that Tsuki had no problem hitting that one dead on. It seemed as if the little pokemon only needed work on accuracy, figuring out how to hit where a target is going to be, not where it was. "Alright, now back to the moving one. This time, instead of hitting where it is, attack the area right in front of it, that way when it moves, your attack actually hits dead on," Jackie said, hoping that her words made sense to her pokemon, since they came out quite jumbled. However, it did not seem so. The little black dog looked at her like she was a moron and shook its head. Again, it attacked, but like before, Houndour attacked where the target was, not where it was going. "Tsuki, you have to hit where it is going to be, not where it was," Jackie said again and again the pokemon grumbled before nodding and trying this new idea.
Still, her first hit missed. Going to far ahead of the target, so this time she missed completely. Still, it was more of an improvement. "Good," Jackie said to the frustrated dog. "This time a little bit closer to where it already is, but still ahead. Since this target is not moving all too fast, you do not have to target too far ahead of it," She continued, "See that target over there? Well if we were using that one, you would have hit it perfect. So now, watch how fast this one is moving, and hit where it will be next. This is how you will attack in any battle, no matter what the move is." The pokemon nodded in response and Jackie smiled as she looked to Koda and Tyr who were both eavesdropping, pleased to have picked up on this information now as well. All three females nodded to their trainer before Houndour tried again.
First attempt hit a bit better than any of the previous ones, but was still off. Jackie could feel the Houndour growing more displeased and frustrated, but did not wish to step in again. Hoping that this time, it could came itself down and figure it out. She would need to be able to do that in battle, since Jackie would not be much use in that instance. A few more frustrated and missed attacks before Tsuki finally took a deep breath and walked in a small circle. She sat down and closed her eyes, and Jackie wondered if this meant she was done trying this technique. As she approached her pokemon, it stood back up and tried one final time. However, it seemed to actually work now. Hitting the moving target perfect, she yipped in excitement, looking over at Jackie who jumped up and down for her a few times. "Good job, hon! You did it!" She smiled and Koda smiled at her gently.
"Kay, now do that a few more times. Remember, stay calm," She spoke slowly and carefully, hoping that the Houndour would remember the last part if anything she taught her today. Nodding, the little pokemon managed to attack several more times, each ember attack hitting the target straight on, no embers missing. It was a perfect attack. For such a weak fire move. Jackie chuckled as the little pokemon pranced around like she had just conquered the world, and Jackie wondered what it would be like for her once she had to learn to control stronger moves, like a flamethrower. "How about we try your Thunder Fang now? That will be very useful again water types," Jackie grinned and Tsuki nodding, shooting a dirty look at Koda. "And not on Koda. At least not until you are both stronger," Jackie sighed, wondering why Tsuki seemed to find such fun in picking on the frightened pokemon. Yet, the Houndour seemed intent on using it for training, at least sometime down the road.
Smirking, the pokemon turned around, once again trying on the tree like thing first. Her teeth seemed to glow a light yellow, showing that her move was still in its weaker stages. But she did not mind. At least she knew the move. A few sparks of electricity surrounded her teeth, also weak and easily broken. The pokemon waited a moment before latching onto the wood momentarily and feeling the electricity surge through it. It was not as strong as she wanted, but at least she would be improving on it. After a few times of munching down on this unmoving object, Jackie pointed to the moving dummy and the pokemon nodded in response. She knew that it was time to try and grab a moving target.
Barreling toward it, Tsuki shoved hard off the ground, but did not consider what she had been told earlier and landed where the dummy had been moments before. Her teeth clamped together and made her jaw hurt instantly from the force she had planned to put into the attack. She rolled her eyes and sighed, looking at Jackie who urged her on with a hand motion and a smile that beamed 'you can do it'. After several more attempts, she finally managed to latch onto the target. She bit hard, hoping to destroy it, already hating it more than anything else she had ever met in the world. Tsuki did not understand why moving targets were so damn hard for her to catch, and this one was not even going that fast! Not nearly as fast as the pokemon she would be battling. As she released, she looked at Jackie who again cheered for her and urged her to continue and keep doing what she had just done. To keep eyes on where the target was and where it was going. To continue doing her best to hit it dead on, each time. Of course, that was not how it went. And while Tsuki's chances of catching the damn thing were becoming greater, they were still not as good as they could have been.
By this point, both Riolu and Squirtle were resting on the bench, probably sleeping by the looks of it. This way, Jackie could use real hand signals and really get in there to help Houndour out. As the pokemon finally started raising her chances of grabbing it again, she started to rotate moves, using both Thunder Fang and Ember, while occasionally pretending to dodge an attack. It was not the most graceful thing, in fact, she was quite clumsy and often tried to make a fall look like a dodge, but Jackie could not help but smile. Sitting down between her other two partners, she watched Houndour curiously, cheering her on and throwing in advice whenever she could.
