"Woah, you gotta see this, Adele!"
The little Deerling, who had been lagging behind all this while, tottered up to catch up with Lafayette, her eyes sparkling at the sight. Despite the fact that this was just some industrial complex, Adele couldn't help but to be amazed at the sight of so much water. The pools of liquid glistened under the sun, which was scorching overhead. Oh, how much Lafayette would give to just dive into those inviting pools of water just this very moment! Then again, the security officer had already thought he was trespassing, so he didn't want to set off any more alarms whatsoever. Besides, people drank this water, he wouldn't want to just start drinking water and his sweat, right? So instead, the boy bent over and then scooped a little amount of liquid into his hand, allowing Adele to sip the drink from his cupped hand. She gave a little squeal in thanks, and Lafayette flicked the rest of the water off.
Playfully, Lafayette decided to head down one of the treacherous looking bridges to the center of the waterworks. He ran across it noisily, the meal structure clattering here and there as he bounded across with heavy footsteps. Adele, startled, tried to keep her balance. In a rather clumsy fashion, the Deerling's hooves clattered across the steel boards as she wobbled her way over into Lafayette's inviting arms. Giving the Deerling a short squeeze, Lafayette rose to his feet and then patted Adele affectionately, "You're doin' just fine, Adele! But you could use with some training..." His eyes drifted over to the glimmering pool of water, as though waiting for something to just appear from it. What wondrous creatures thrived in these pristine waters? Lafayette wanted to meet them all and well, maybe he could make a few friends with them! As long as they weren't shooting Ice Beams at him or whatever, he guessed it couldn't hurt, right?
"Nice weather we're having, right Adele?" The Deerling nodded in response, before Lafayette patted his pocket grinning, "You too, Evita. You should see the weather!" Tossing the Pokeball, the Togepi appeared and snorted gruffly, glancing around. Oh, urk, she didn't want to go around falling into that water - Evita wasn't even sure she could swim. She kept close to Lafayette, who scooped her into his arms, earning a manly giggle from her. Something shiny caught her eye, and without hesitation, Evita leapt from Lafayette's hands and then barrelled forward without another word, leaving Lafayette distressed and panicked. He beckoned for Adele to follow, racing after the Togepi before she fell into the water, the klutzy Deerling galloping behind, crying out. Ah, shit, he hoped he wouldn't get into trouble for all the mayhem he was causing here! |

A Shellos made its way carefully out of the water. Looking around cautiously, she was careful to make sure no others were around there that might disturb her. So far, she seemed safe. Moving slowly, her head suddenly snapped to the side to see a Togepi and Deerling running toward her like a pair of mad men. With a squeel, she tried to turn and run for the water, but it seemed no use. In a matter of seconds, they were both right there, and she had to attack to protect herself, at least in her mind. It was the only way to stay alive.
Immediately she used a Harden to protect herself, just in case her attack came too slow, as she tried to decide which move to use. But it was no use, they were too close now, she had no option but to just use the first move she could think of. Using her body to spin to the side, she flung a ton of mud toward the two pokemon, using a Mud-slap attack in an effort to lower their accuracy by momentarily blinding them so that they could not as easily find and attack her. She let out a warning, "Shel!" And waited to see if they would let her go or try to attack back.
It was an odd pair to see in the waterworks, but it was then that she realized why. Oh crap, these two pokemon had a trainer! Worried that he might use a bigger, more frightening pokemon on her, she inched back toward the water, hoping to escape before being hit with an attack, but she did not think she would make it. So instead, she stopped in her tracks and flinched, waiting for any impact that might hit her. Still, she puffed up a bit, deciding that she better just fight then escape, as they might try and go after her. Plus, what would she do if an innocent Shellos got injured?

In mid sprint, it was easy for Lafayette to forget that his Pokemon couldn't move in leaps and pounds like he could, and that they weren't quite adapted to running along such terrain. Evidently, as he watched Evita the Togepi bound ahead in little waddles, before he looked back. Hazel eyes watched as Adele tried to manoeuvre the place without banging into the steel railings on the sides, which seemed to be occurring more than necessary. Lafayette flinched, before unable to bear the idea of letting Adele suffer more. He scooped her up, lightweight as she was, and returned her before she could hurt herself any further. Adele, as much as he didn't want to say it, was quite the klutz, and he wasn't sure how he was going to train with her being so dependent on him. He gulped, tossing that thought to the back of his mind, and rather, Lafayette focused on tracking little Evita down.
The Togepi had run a fair distance away by the time she had bothered to look back. She stopped in her tracks, peering back and looking for Lafayette. Oh, where had he gone now? Distracted by looking for her master, the Togepi turned around only to receive a dollop of mud in her face. She let out a gruff yelp in surprise. Evita was blinded by the attack, the Togepi grunting as she tried to remove the dirt from her eyes to little avail. The Togepi tried to make sense of her perpetrator, stumbling right by the Shellos unharmed in her state. Unable to see, she tottered around absent-mindedly, all the while trying to get her eyes cleaned. She could hear the sounds of something slimy and sluggish on the steel boards, but she couldn't for hell think of any Pokemon in mind. At the same time, she seemed to hear the heavy footsteps of Lafayette, lumbering in search for her as he ran noisily across the steel flooring.
Evita cried in response, and her low pitched voice travelled slowly, but surely. It was unmistakable that that was Evita. More alert than ever, Lafayette sprinted in her direction, too preoccupied to even notice the pink sea slug on the ground, a faint green aura around the thing. His feet collided with the small force field, and Lafayette flew, landing recklessly on the flooring with a deafening crash. He noticed Evita first, picking her up and holding her protectively before he glanced at the Pokemon before him. What on earth was that? With quivering hands, Lafayette withdrew the Pokedex the professor had handed to him, analysing the Pokemon with uncertainty. Evita managed to get the muck from her eyes, feeling a little light headed as light flooded back in.
"Shellos, the Sea Slug Pokemon. Beware of pushing strongly on its squishy body, as it makes a mysterious purple fluid ooze out." Lafayette raised a brow at this information, most weirded out by the advice given. Regardless, he tilted his head with his childlike curiosity, pursing his lips as he looked at the pink coloured creature. It did seem like a very pretty thing, albeit a little too feminine even for his record. Giving Evita a little rub, he then spoke up, as though a little unsure what to do with the Pokemon as well, "Oh, um, hey there cute little thing... Where are you headed?" Recalling that he had tripped over it, he rubbed his chin, flinching as the wound stung, "Ack, must have tripped over you just now! Sorry little dude!" Rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, Lafayette piped up again, "So um, yes, what'cha doing out of the water? Oh god, will you die?!" Panic was evident in his voice, and unmistakably, Lafayette didn't know what to do. |

The Shellos looked around worridly as she heard the heavy footsteps of a human coming in her direction. She would surely end up hurt for attacking his little pokemon! Especially since now it could not see and might even end up hurt. The Togepi wandered right past her and she hoped that it would not wander into the water, wondering if she even knew how to swim. Not to mention, she was now crying, which would mean that she would certainly end up hurt. Retreating a little more, she stopped to watch the Togepi, knowing that she could not just abandone it blinded, no matter how frightened she was.
Still, she stayed on the defense, ready to attack anyone else who came too close to her. However, this did not seem to work too well for her as suddenly, a huge man was tripping over the top of her. Flinching and curling up to herself, she heard him crash to the ground and only opened one eye to look as he picked up the Togepi defensively. Oh crap, now she was really dead! He seemed to help clean it, and she remained pulled in to herself, waiting for the right moment to attack him, as he was so much larger than her and had to be upset about his pokemon. Trying to think what she should use to attack, she watched him pull something out and listened to it say something to him. Perhaps about herself.
Tilting her head curiously, she moved backward from the boy a few feet before stopping and scanning him again, once more heading toward the water. However, when he suddenly spoke to her, she could not help but again fling mud and then once more tuck her head back toward her body, eyes shut tightly as she feared the worse. He would squish her! He had already tried before but undershot and fell on his face! She almost gasped, but instead held her breath, only to hear him speak some more. She did not understand all of it, but realized he was apologizing. So he did not want to kill her? She raised her head curiously once more to look at him.
Tilting it sideways again, she looked from him to his pokemon and shook her head to respond no, she would not die. At least not right away. She just needed to remain most. Or something like that. So she figured. She had often ventured out of the water, mostly for food sources and when protecting herself from other creatures in and out of the water. She could handle periods out of the substance, although she preferred to be in it. Inching slowly toward the boy, she stopped and looked him over the best she could, still ready to attack him at the last minute if she needed to, almost certain this was a trap of some sort.

There was something absurdly cute about the coral pink sea slug right in front of Lafayette that he just couldn't put his finger on. How flustered it seemed (or maybe he was just imagining it, whatever) and how it tried to put up a guarded front before Lafayette. He didn't seem too fazed by the Pokemon's cautious behaviour around him. He supposed it was only instinctive - After all, if it was him, Lafayette would be terrified of something ten times bigger than he was. In a moment of courage, Lafayette reached out to try and pet the Shellos, mud was flung at him, and he sputtered, wiping it away from his mouth before he made a face, as though about to gag, "That was gross!" He spat for a while longer before he looked at the timid thing, mentally cursing at himself for scaring it even more. No wonder it was so afraid, what with Lafayette being so big and daunting.
He tilted his head with undissolved wonder at the strange creature. Well, it seemed to be functioning pretty fine out of the water. Grinning, Lafayette wiped the mud off once again and then hugged his knees, "H-Hey, it's okay y'know. You remind me of this scared little Emolga that lived in this tree of mine." It had always been a timid little thing, and Lafayette had always tried to play with it. He knew that look on the Shellos' face - Fear, of course. He twiddled his thumbs and then noted, "I won't hurt ya! Go along back into the water. Besides, I'm looking for something that can help me fight scary and strong people. Wouldn't want to hurt a pretty little lass like ya." He dusted himself as he stood, returning Evita before she could protest with a smile. Before the Shellos could retaliate, he petted her affectionately on the head. "See ya, little dude."
Lafayette grinned, saluting to the Shellos and then hurrying away. It was a goodbye to the sea slug, and it was better off in its little happy pool of water. Maybe he could find something more interesting that could be a valuable asset to his team. He couldn't take on a gym with just Adele and Evita, of course. |

The pokemon watched the human who was obviously disgusted by her protective attack, and she did not blame him. Mud was a nasty thing. Still, she did not inch toward him and he backed up from her a bit. The human went on about some sort of other pokemon in his tree, or something like that. She was not all too good with the human language yet and often found herself stumbling over words, but nodded as if she was listening. Looking at him as he told her she could be on her way that he would not bother her, she sighed in relief. Moving toward the human and smiling to him in a thank you, she quickly made her way back into the refreshing water, having completely forgotten why she had moved onto the land in the first place. Looking back at the human, she sunk into the water, swimming off happily.
However, as she disappeared, a Poliwag watched from the other side of the water. So a battle was what this trainer wanted? How perfect! Diving into the water, he spun his tail as rapidly as he could. He had always wanted a trainer of his own, to be able to grow stronger, hopefully be one of the most powerful pokemon some day! Sure, he had a feeling he could do it on his own, but he still worried that he might be wrong. Not to mention, pokemon with trainers always seemed to be able to level and evolve quicker than those without! Leaping out of the water, he looked at the Shellos who seemed to have fully vanished by this point and wagged his tail around, water dripping from his sleek body.
He was glad that the Shellos had so quickly and gratefully taken the leave. Otherwise he would have been sitting there forever! The transparent part of his tail showed the earth beneath it and while his feet were not the strongest, he almost hoped he could try and battle them from the water. However, a battle was a battle and if he could prove himself to this trainer, well he would soon be on to great things! He smiled softly before lowering himself into the most intimidating battle stance he could conjure up (and it was not all too intimidating with his naturally cute appearance). His eyes focused on the human and he did the best he cold to make sure the man knew he wished to battle. <Let's battle already!> He said excitedly toward the man's pokemon.
