After leaving the laboratory, smiling with her new company just as she had pictured, it didn't take long for Ashleigh and her recently acquired Meowth to begin down the road to Featherwing.
Featherwing City was home to the first gym in the Nexivus region and the road from the laboratory to Featherwing City was filled with a wide array of wild Pokemon. Ashleigh wasn't yet sure what other Pokemon she wanted on her team aside from a Nidoqueen and Girafarig, but she knew that a Pokemon she wouldn't normally consider might squirm its way onto her belt and into her heart. Even if no Pokemon of particular interest showed up on the route though, her Meowth did need training and was biting at the bit to begin battling. And, although with more reservation, so was Ashleigh.
With much of the day still left, Ashleigh and her Meowth began their walk down the path, the cat-like Pokemon looking around suspiciously, her eyes scanning for the slightest hint of something unusual. Ashleigh walked along more casually, enjoying the pleasant weather, soft breeze, and placid scenery surrounding her. Although simple and rather average, the route was still beautiful; such peace made it difficult to imagine something as deranged and deadly as noctus Pokemon. Ashleigh nearly shuddered at the though and picked up her pace to reach her Meowth's side.
"You know dear, you need a name," Ashleigh told her Meowth as she walked alongside the ever watchful Pokemon, looking down to meet surprised, saucer-like eyes. "If that'd be all right with you, that is," Ashleigh added, smiling shyly.. Her Meowth smiled back (though with none of her trainer's anxiety) and jumped up at her, swaying her tail back and forth. "Meowth!" She purred happily, looking up at Ashleigh excitedly.
"Haha, well good then. I was thinking..." Ashleigh trailed off, teasing her expectant and impatient Meowth. "...Prussia. What do you think?" She asked her Meowth with clasped hands and slanted eyes, hoping the Pokemon would like it.
In response, the Meowth nodded enthusiastically several times before nipping Ashleigh lightly on her hand, then trotting on forward ahead again, ears perked and eyes focused.
"Then it's set, Prussia," Ashleigh said from behind, looking around her contently. Overhead the sun shined brightly and birds were chirping all around her - luxuries she had to enjoy now since night time wasn't as forgiving. With the noctus Pokemon around, the thought of having to stick the night out alone was terrifying, but there wasn't much she could do about it other than hope she made it to Featherwing City before nightfall. Or find someone to camp out with if she had the misfortune to not make it to the city by then.
Night time and the horrors it held were a few ways off still, however, Ashleigh reminded herself with a sigh, keeping her eyes on her curious and over eager Meowth who was slightly ahead of her again. "Don't worry Prussia, I'm sure we'll find something before too long," she reassured her restless Pokemon who only turned back for a glance in response. "Everything's eventual, Prussia. Remember that."
