HOMETOWN

APPEARANCE
On occasion Caithosin has been described as “pretty”, but most people don't tend to live very healthy lives after that compliment. Cai has thick, dark hair which is worn shaggy enough to brush his neck, and more importantly cover his eyes. Said eyes are a vibrant violet color, a phenomenon undefinable by the genetic doctors. His hair and eyes are contrasted by unearthly pale skin, a tone rivaling the lack of color found in albino people. This male sports rather feminine facial features, complete with long eyelashes, though the angelic look is ruined by a near constant frown and glare combo. A tiny birthmark with no particular design or pattern is located just under his jaw. He has small hands, made all the more petite by long, thin fingers. His short stature is accentuated by large but undefined muscle, most of which occupy his pecks and biceps. Although it would be hard to tell by looking at him, Caithosin actually has a very athletically fit body, more than capable of jogging for many miles with little rest.
Caithosin is known as a man to prefer comfort to style, and will never put himself in a position that requires something more than his usual black denim jeans and soft cotton shirts. Typically he can be seen wearing warm colored tops, though his favorite is an ember orange tank worn with a black button down, left open. A simple pair of black sneakers protect his feet from nature, and simple though they may be Cai wouldn't give them up for anything. This young man has never quite seen the point in accessorizing and keeps things to a simple pair of dog tags, a not too expensive watch, and a worn and torn backpack.
Although not very decorative in clothing, Cai considers his body a totally different manner. Even as young as he is, he has accumulated an assortment of tattoos and piercings. He has lobe piercings, a cartilage piercing, and a set of snake bites, all of the best quality surgical steel available. His tattoos include a nine pronged ball of fire on one shoulder blade, a flurry of snow on the other, a trail of Houndoom paw prints on his stomach and chest, and barbed wire around both wrists.
PERSONALITY
Caithosin is a hardened individual who cares less than nothing for what the people around him think or say about him. Mr. Business man thinks he's too under dressed? He can shove it and take his tight trousers with him. Ms. House wife thinks he needs a hair cut? He knows he can name a patch of fuzz that needs one more than he does. Plain and simple, it is Cai's strong opinion that if someone doesn't like the way he is then they can very merrily choose not to be like him, as he is choosing not to be like them. The only time he becomes sensitive is when the subject of his eye color is brought to the table. He doesn't understand why his eyes had to be the color they are and would gladly change them if he could. Odd enough, this happens to be what the people care the least about.
Although not open about himself, Cai is rather open minded in most else. He has an appreciation for abstract ideas and loves to puzzle over them as he drifts into sleep. Though not very interested in art, he finds a deep satisfaction in music and tends to adventure in his taste of the different genres. The emotions of others, however, is not a very comfortable area for him to hang out in and he has a low ability to empathize with others. When people become too emotional around him Cai finds himself shutting down and trying to get away.
Although confident in himself and his abilities Caithosin is not one for underestimating his opponent or for bragging. He has learned the hard way that when one is cocky he gets knocked on his ass. As such, he has developed the habit of studying other trainers before engaging in a battle with them. It's not that he is afraid to lose, he just wants to ensure that he doesn't disappoint himself.
Shy is a simple way to describe the man, but he prefers anti-social. Cai is not comfortable when with a few others, though he knows how to handle crowds well. When approached, Cai can become very withdrawn and often mumbles responses. He finds it hard to make and keep friends, but he has a triggered self defense against loneliness that says as long as he can have a Pokemon at his side he doesn't need human interaction. Try as he may to reason with himself, Cai finds himself longing for a human relationship he could be comfortable in.
Cai is a very disciplined person in that if he says he is going to do something he will make certain it's done. He is deeply motivated to do all things that need doing in a timely manner, and is very good at avoiding the things he ought not to be doing. He doesn't not exactly thrive in self discipline though. He has a hard time keeping control of his emotions and is prone to fits of anger and anxiety, followed by flashes of regret and sorrow. He is a relatively cleanly person, but he has no organizational skills to speak of.
Caithosin enjoys being able to walk as long and as far as he wants without ever being told he needs to come home. He also enjoys a little fun by way of drawing and cooking. He has a certain detestation for cool colors, and hot places. He longs to become a great Pokemon trainer and be respected for the decisions he makes instead of everyone trying to change him.
HISTORY
Caithosin was born to a single mother in Oxgate alongside a twin sister. He never met his father and dependent on the way his mother talked about him he wasn't sure he ever wanted to. His life was pretty easy when he was young. Despite having two young children, his mother was a very successful business owner. He and his sister Laelali had free run of the city during the day and no one really cared about them. After all they stayed out of trouble, for the most part. Cai though life was easy, that all he had to do was ask for something and it would be given to him. All he had to do in return was watch after his sister.
Everything changed on a cold December night when the twins were thirteen. Then came home a little later than usual. Caelin wouldn't mind, they thought, after all it was just a few minutes and they had a good excuse. They had been busy pelting each other with snowball in an ally a few blocks away. Well, they were very wrong. Or, more or less they wished they were. Caelin had taken full advantage of the children being away and now lay in a pool of her own blood. The children screamed, but in a city like this no one really cares, it doesn't concern them. Laelali broke into tears, then a hysteria, leaving Caithosin to call the police and the hospital.
The police proved useless, they were saying the same thing as the med units. Caelin had committed suicide. The news sent poor Laelali into a panic and she had to be sedated and hospitalized for a week. Caithosin had never felt so alone in such a full city. His mother had no siblings, and her parents had passed long before the twins came around. There was no way to reach his father if he didn't even know who he was. Cai saw no option but to take as many jobs as a 24 hour day would allow to be able to support his sister. Eventually she joined him in the workforce, but she was never stable enough to keep a job for long.
Three years passed before Laelali got over their mother, but then Cai was truly alone. He came home one day to a note on the table. “I'm sick of being here, I have to get out of this house. I'm going on a Pokemon journey, so don't wait up for me,” it said. Furious, Caithosin broke most of the things his sister had left behind before he was able to think rationally again. After that he was just sad and empty, not sure if he should continue to live or follow the same path his mother did. It was a song heard through the thin walls that saved his life that night.
For the next two years Caithosin dedicated himself to becoming a man he could respect. He didn't have a second of free time, he was always working, or studying. It didn't matter what as long as he didn't have the time necessary to think. Finally, Cai turned eighteen and freed his soul from the haunting embrace of his mother. He took the first step on his trip to healing, a trip that included traveling the continent with Pokemon he raised himself.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE
Caelin was sitting on her sofa, enjoying a warm cup of cider while the kids were out. Laelali, more than the cider, warmed her to her soul. There was nothing of her father in that child, and the aging woman was glad. She knew the children accepted her, even with her vast amount of flaws, and she could be peaceful even in her sorrow.
Fourteen years ago the woman thought she had found love in this cold city. Turns out, it was just another false hope. Sure, Caelin and he got along well at the beginning, but like with most men he had been in it for the passion. They spent much of their time in each others' apartments, enjoying the closeness of the other's body. When the news came, though, he was gone faster than a rocket, never to be heard from again.
Caelin thought back on the incident and felt her betrayal renewed. Tightly, she clenched the mug, then threw it. She hated that man, but it was undeniable that she hated herself more. Had she been just a little more careful, gotten just a little less carried away. Perhaps he would still be here. With a sigh the mother lifted herself from the couch and went to clean the mess she had made. At that time she noticed the clock.
It was well past the usual dinner time, but Caelin had heard no word from Cai or Laelali. Cai was to be expected, he was a young man who had little time left for his mother. But Laelali? She had always been highly aware of the emotions of her mother. A pang of worry settled her heart, but Caelin decided to sit it through. Perhaps they had just gotten in trouble with the police and were attending to their deeds.
More hours passed and Caelin became panicky. Surely they should be back by now? Flashes of her time with her once lover filled her head and the worry grew to a sense of dread. No, please no, she though as she clutched at her heart. What if those sweet little children were laying out in the snow, dead? Worse, what if they had just run away? Was she really such a terrible mother, a terrible person that she couldn't tell if her children were unhappy? But how could they be, she had given them everything they could ask for.
Caelin pondered this, and the longer she thought the worse she felt. It must have been her fault, why else? Everything was always her fault. More careful, more thoughtful, she needed to be more. But now it was too late. She had been left again, by the only important people in her life. She couldn't bare that fact and she frantically wobbled into her kitchen.
She slid open a drawer and peered inside. There, that was what she needed. Her slender hand reached in and drew out the largest knife in the set. Her other hand slammed the drawer shut, then clutch at the handle of the knife. This was it, this time she was going to be the one doing the leaving. Tears flowing down her thin face, sobs reverberating down the halls, Caelin aimed the knife at her chest and took the final plunge.
