Max was standing in the city centre, around him people moved quickly as if they were all late for something really important, pokemon intermingled with them, they too were rushing. Max looked like a typical tourist, strolling slowly through the city centre. All around him the skyscrapers were plastered with advertisements for different products, gadgets, make-up, music, shows and must-haves for the city-dwellers. In his arms was Chikara, it was her favourite way to travel because she loved being close to Max, she hated the bustle of the city and was wriggling uncomfortable with all the people around.
Attempting to appease her, Max headed into a side street. Compared to the centre just metres away, it was much quieter, only a few people were in the street and they were much further down. Max set Chikara down on the ground, she protested, nudging his legs but Max's arms were starting to ache. He straightened up and moved forwards, ignoring Chikara bumping against his calves.
He wondered if there were any pokemon down here, it was a quiet street and he'd heard of many pokemon who lived quiet happily in the urban setting in and around Featherwing City. He really wanted a fighting or flying type and they certainly weren't rare around here. Even if there weren't any wild pokemon this close to the centre Max was just enjoying being out and away from his family with his pokemon. Max had been to the pokemon gym earlier that morning, it was really cool but he didn't feel ready for it yet, he needed to train his pokemon a little more before challenging the gym.

A cry came from a nearby alleyway, resounding upon the narrow walls and disturbing the world. Inside a small Lillipup was bitten a second time by the territorial Rattata. He just needed a place to look for some food! He’d been jumping from alley to alley until he was attacked by the purple rat that had been hiding within a dumpster that Lillipup had been unfortunate enough to discover. The Rattata took another nip at him but this time he was quick enough to evade it and exit the hell-hole. Of course he was upset that he’d been so easily chased out with his tail between his legs. Lillipup was never going to survive on his own if he couldn’t stand his ground for once in his life! The starving and depressed normal type bowed its head and headed down the street, yelping as his wound festered from the abrasive movement. A sudden scent caught his attention, mixed with Pokémon. Human! He pricked his ears and scanned his surroundings. Sure enough a young boy was across from him, also traversing the lonely road. Lillipup was sure he’d seen him retreat from the alley like a coward, so was most likely going to and start trouble. Not this time! This was his chance to lay claim to something someone else wanted. With a defiant howl the scrap of fur raced towards his adversary with a fierce Tackle. The adrenaline rush nulled the pain in his shoulder and gave him new-found energy that he hadn’t had for the encounter with the Rattata. This would have a different outcome.
A wild Lillipup has appeared. Male Level: Four Tackle | Growl

The area they were now in was filthy, there was litter on the floor and graffitti on the brick walls. The ground was dirty and it was clear no street cleaners came down this side street. The surrounding alleyways were dark and housed back entrances to shops and restaurants as well as providing a place for their waste and dumpsters.
It was from one of these alleys that Max heard the cry and turned in the direction it came from, looking for the source. Chikara tilted her head quizzically to one side as she located the direction the cry came from. The alleyway was dark and it was hard to see anything, faintly she could make out shapes moving in the darkness. Quickly though one shape got clearer and clearer as it ran towards them. Chikara moved towards the pokemon, ready to defend Max.
Max hadn't seen the lillipup approaching but his nidoran had. Chikara moved away from him and braced herself, her body glowing red as she used a counter. Chikara was very defensive of her trainer, she loved him more than anything and would do anything to protect him. Max saw the wound on the side of the Lilipup and was about to reach for his backpack and medicine pouch when he realised the Lilipup wasn't just running towards them.
Chikara used counter.

Lillipup! Male, Level 4 Tackle, Growl
The Lillipup let out a cry of pain when the attack hit his already wounded shoulder. That cry soon turned into a whimper, and that whimper turned into a growl. He could take these guys, easily! He was sure that he wouldn't loose. Not again.
He paused for a moment, trying to decide what best to do. Of course, only knowing one offensive move forced him to choose pretty quickly; good thing, too, for he usually over-thought things far too much.
The Pokemon rushed forward in another tackle, simply amazed by how little pain he was feeling by now. Surely nothing beat the natural high of this adrenalin; he could hardly feel, he could jump much higher than usual, and he felt like he could keep at this for hours. Of course, he couldn't really, and it wasn't like he wasn't taking damage, he just felt like everything would be great forever.

Chikara made a noise deep in her throat at the Lillipup, she could see the cogs working in his mind, wanting to get a win. No one was going to touch Max, Chikara thought, angry that the Lillipup would try attacking them. The lillipup moved forwards into a tackle attack, Chikara's body tensed as she prepared herself for the attack. The lillipup's attack hit her hard enough to knock her back a few feet and Max moved backwards out of the make shift battle field. "Chikara, use a scratch attack, get it back," the nidoran advanced claws out, trying to swat the Lillipup away and increase the distance between them. "Follow it up with a growl," Chikara sat back on her hind legs, her eyes wide and cute, she growled cutely, trying to prevent the Lillipup attacking again. Chikara used scratch then growl.

Lillipup! Male, Level 4 Tackle, Growl
The Lillipup actually started to laugh when his attack forced the other Pokemon back a few steps. Oh, this was all going so well! He swore that today would be the start of the rest of his life. Never again would he loose, or even feel pain!
Caught up in his thoughts of always being on top of the world, the normal type didn't notice the Nidoran getting closer to him. In fact, he was utterly shocked when he felt the Pokemon's claws dig into him, not hurting (much) but leaving a warm sensation across his chest.
He got ready to lung forward again, though paused for a moment when he heard the soft, cute, growl. He almost reconsidered the fight, though he ended up deciding that it was too important to call off. With a little less power behind his step, he ran forward to try and tackle the other Pokemon.

Max hoped that the scratch would do enough damage, considering the Lillipup's other injury, to keep the wild pokemon at bay. It hadn't seemed to work though and Max watched as he geared up for another tackle. Max knew he had to think of something, eventually the Lillipup's tackles would wear Chikara down. "Chikara, use another growl." The nidoran made herself look as cute as possible before growling. "Now, wait for the Lillipup to get close and then use an ice beam."
Chikara opeed her mouth, a blue ball of energy began to form and as the Lillipup tackled her she released it. The ball of energy split into three beams which were directed at the Lillipup. As the ice beam was used the Lillipup's tackle knocked her backwards towards Max. Again, she landed on her feet, Chikara was getting annoyed with all this, how dare a wild pokemon attack me and Max? Max's strategy was to use the powerful ice beam to do some damage and maybe even freeze the Lillipup.
Chikara used growl then ice beam.

Lillipup!Male, Level 4, FROZEN 1/3 Tackle, Growl
The Lillipup considered just giving up when he heard the other Pokemon's cute growl again. He got so far as turning around when he remembered something - today was the start of the rest of his life. A life in which he would never lose. A life in which he could never give up, and would never want to. He turned back around to attack again, only to be hit by a freezing cold beam of light.
He whimpered, unprepared for something so strong. He wasn't going down just yet, though, he swore that he would still win! He tried to move his paws forward, though found that he couldn't. Startled, he looked down to see himself encased in a block of ice. Severely angered, he let out a growl, hoping that the other Pokemon would take the growl as a warning.

Max smiled when he saw the Lillipup's resolve wavering, the other pokemon began to turn around. Something seemed to change in Lillipup and he turned back around to attack again. As he did Chikara's ice beam caught him in full blast, freezing the pokemon into an ice block.
Max smiled when he saw that the tactic had worked, the enemy was frozen into a solid block of ice. "Chikara, use your tail whip then try a double kick," Chikara wagged her tail to lower the oponent's defenses before spinning around and aiming two kicks from her powerful back legs at the Lillipup.
It was after this attack that Max saw the full extent of the wound that Lillipup had had when it began attacking. It looked nasty and probably needed the attention of a Pokemon Centre but Max didn't think that this pokemon would come quietly. It was probably a better idea for Chikara to knock him out first so he wouldn't be scared or angry when they took him to the Centre. Although, removing a wild pokemon from it's habitat often meant it couldn't be returned later. Max sighed, he could try using the medicine in his backpack first before taking the Lillipup to see Nurse Joy.
Chikara used tail whip then double kick.

As the Lillipup stood there engulfed in his ice, his eyes widened to see the Nidoran running toward him again. First it used a tail whip and he found himself falling for its cuteness once more, as he had so many times before. Still, he shook his thoughts clear, he had to break out of this ice cage and attack it back! He just HAD to win! He tried hard to squirm and wiggle, but it was no use. Not to mention there was no way to attack back. He watched the Nidoran intently, trying to think up a way out of this, only to see it running toward him once more. Stopping just before him, it spun around and shot its back legs up toward his face twice.
Of course, there was nothing he could do but flinch and wait for the impact. That one sort of hurt... he whinned, trying to use another Growl, but it still seemed to be no use. And if it was not bad enough, not being able to run around or move was making his adrenaline leave his body. That meant that soon he would be feeling everything. Trying harder and harder to squirm and free himself, he had hoped that the double kick might break the ice rather than just hitting him, but that did not seem to be true. Still, he was not giving up, his adrenaline and spirit were forcing him on and he was not ready to loose either one just yet.

Max winced as the double kick hit the immobolised opponent, it didn't seem fair but he could tell the other pokemon hadn't given up. The Lillipup tried a growl attack but the ice encasing him stopped the attack from affecting Chikara. Max didn't understand why the other pokemon was so determined to keep attacking them. He really didn't want to hurt it but if he helped thaw the ice out it would just carry on with its assault. Max felt very guilty that he was hurting it and really just wanted to look at the wound that it had had when it started attacking. The injury looked fresh and it could do with a bandage and some medicine being applied. Chikara looked angry, how could this pokemon keep on attacking?! It wasn't going to win, she thought angrily.
"Chikara use tail whip." The nidoran shook her small tail cutely, trying to get the lillipup to lower its guard. She widened her eyes and looked adorably at the Lillipup, willing it to give up the barrage of attacks. "Follow it up with a double kick," instantly the nidoran stopped the cute act, spinning around to launch two hard kicks at the block of ice. Her strong muscles sent the kicks out as hard as she could, her anger was the power behind the attack.

The Lillipup continued to try and escape his ice enclosure, small whines continued to emit from his throat as he did his best to escape. He wiggled and wormed, but it still seemed no use. Watching the Nidoran with a bit of fear, he knew that his adrenaline was lowering. The longer he could not move, the less good it would do him and while he felt like he could just go on and on, he knew that once he felt these attacks and the pain from his wound, well he would be shit out of luck, sitting there unable to move. He needed to win this battle, win it, then escape. Look at his wounds then and try to lick them clean. Or something of that sort.
He winced again as the pokemon used another tail whip. Oh, maybe he did not really want to fight anymore. That thing was so darn cute. Shaking his head, he almost could not fight it. Watching the little pokemon intently as it widened its eyes and looked at him, he blinked hard. Oh, how cute it was. Suddenly, she broke it, though. Turning, she double kicked him once more, shattering the ice and dropping him to his stomach. "Pup!" He cried as he tried to regain his balance and mobility, shaking out his legs as he yipped at the Nidoran. Trying to decide if he wanted to still fight or not, he looked it over.
By now, his muscles were starting to throb and he was becoming extremely tired. His breathing was becoming more labored, but he was still not going to give up. He just needed a chance to regain his breath, thaw out his body. He shook himself and looked up at the human. It looked worried, and Lillipup wondered if he was worried for the Nidoran. That meant that he was doing good! That he could win! His tail wagged and he watched it, wondering if it was going to attack again before he could regain full mobility and attack it. He sort of smiled at the human before nodding at the pokemon. He could feel the pain starting to set in, but it was not yet bad enough that he could not stop fighting. So his determined expression remained as he stared down the Nidoran and its trainer.

As the last double kick shattered the ice Max watched as the Lillipup began to thaw out. The pokemon's muscles were clearly warming up as he shook himself and stretched his legs. The other pokemon's tail began to wag slowly. The Lillipup seemed less aggressive but just as determined. Max bit his lip, unsure of what to do, the fight was still in the Lillipup, he didn't think he'd give up until he fainted. The issue was that the Lillipup's shoulder looked pretty bad and if it wasn't going to give up any time soon he could only think of one way to get it to stay still and let him treat it.
"Chikara, you did well but that's it for now." The nidoran backed off and returned to Max's side, she seemed tired but happy that she'd stopped the other pokemon attacking her trainer. Max unclipped a pokeball from his belt and pressed the button on its centre. The pokeball enlarged and Max threw it towards the Lillipup, attempting to catch the injured pokemon.
Max was very aware of his medicine pouch in his backpack, if the Lillipup would let him he could treat the injury, if not then they'd have to go and find a pokemon centre. Max crossed his fingers at his side hoping the pokeball worked.
Chikara returned. Max used a pokeball.

The Lillipup was pleased to find himself capable of moving once more. While his fur was still icy to the touch and he felt cold inside and out, he was ready to take this Nidoran on once more. At least, until the cold finished wearing off, which he assumed gave him about one attack worth of time. With that, he took off quickly toward the Nidoran, trying to use another tackle. However, what had been quick before was now quite slow, as he was in a half jog toward the thing. His shoulder was really starting to bother him now, which only raised his determination some more. He was sure he would get this thing and win!
But oh how tired he was feeling. Again he slowed and tried to tackle the pokemon, only to see it suddenly withdrawn, now standing where it had once been. Confused on what had just happened and if had hit or not, he immediately assumed the trainer had withdrawn the pokemon for a reason... he had won! Barking excitedly, he jumped up once before his shoulder pain started setting in full force, all adrenaline now fading from his little body. His eyes grew wide as he held back a yelp. He could not win then turn around and look like a big sissy anyway. That was what he was working so hard to avoid doing!
Still, his shoulder hurt really bad now! Lying down, he tried to turn his head to lick the cold wound. His paws shifted and he whined softly to himself. Oh, maybe battling was not a good idea. He knew he would be regretting it later when he started however long ago that had been. However, his thoughts were suddenly disrupted by a pokeball which opened and immediately drew him in. Dropping to the ground, it rolled and shook a few times as the Lillipup tried to free himself, but his shoulder was hurting far too badly now. Giving up, the pokeball sealed and the pokemon was caught.
Congratulations! You Caught a Lillipup! Level Four - Male Tackle;; Growl Personality: Cowardly, but wants to become strong and brave. Determined and focused.

The pokeball closed around the Lillipup and shook as he struggled but it wasn't long before the ball stilled. A click indicated the Lillipup had been caught. Max exhaled and smiled, he hadn't even realised he'd been holding his breath, and uncrossed his fingers. Stepping towards the pokeball he scooped it up and pushed the button in its centre. The Lillipup was released and Max crouched down to look at his shoulder. He seemed confused and Max was careful not to touch him too suddenly in case he spooked him.
Max got the medicine pouch out of his bag and used wipes to clean around the bite wound. He rubbed an ointment on it to help it close up and then pressed a small bandage on to the injury. It would take a few days to heal and would be painful for a while but the Lillipup should be fine. Max just couldn't believe that he'd fought on with that injury, he smiled at the Lillipup, "I'm going to name you Danko because you're so determined."
Danko still seemed confused and Max suspected he was in shock, slowly the Lillipup's tail began to wag and Max smiled, ruffling the fur on his head. "It's okay, you can come with us and you're shoulder will be fine." Danko yipped in agreement and Max returned him to the pokeball so he could rest.
He glanced down the rest of the alleyway, it grew darker the further down the street and he couldn't see where it emerged. If this Lillipup had been here and the pokemon that injured him then there was bound to be more. Max looked down at Chikara, "what do you think, Chikara? Do you want to explore?" Chikara glanced up and nodded, "Ni, Ni."
The pair stepped into the darker end of the alleyway, looking to see if they could see any wild pokemon. Down here there weren't many people and it seemed completely separate to the bright, bustling city outside of the alley which was filled with people. This alley was quiet, the perfect hide away for city pokemon.
